*Ghana bars recruits over stretch marks and bleached skin*

The Ghanaian Immigration Service (GIS) has disqualified candidates with bleached skin and stretch marks from a massive recruitment exercise.

A GIS spokesman told the BBC this was because people with such marks might bleed during the "strenuous" training.

Those with tattoos, dreadlocks and "bow legs" were also disqualified from the exercise.

"The kind of work we do, it's strenuous and the training is such that if you have bleached skin or surgical marks on your body during training exercises, you may incur some bleedings," Superintendent Michael Amoako-Attah, told BBC Pidgin.

Ghanaians also reacted angrily when the agency revealed it was only recruiting 500 people, after some 84,000 people had paid 50 cedis ($11; £8) each for an application form.

*Sahara Desert covered in snow for the second time in 40 years*

*Sahara Desert covered in snow for the second time in 40 years*

The Sahara Desert — the world’s hottest — has been hit by snow for only the second time in four decades. Photographers have taken incredible pictures of 18-inch deep snow covering the sand in the small North African desert town of Ain Sefra after a freak winter storm on Sunday.

The town had not seen snow for 37 years when it arrived this time last year — and locals were stunned when it began falling on the red sand dunes on Sunday morning. It comes as much of the northern hemisphere sees record cold temperatures. Snow started falling in the early hours of Sunday and it quickly began settling on the sand.

Last year, the town, known as “The Gateway to the Desert,” saw deep snow shortly after Christmas and it caused chaos, with passengers stranded on buses after the roads became slippery and icy. Before that, snow was last seen in Ain Sefra on February 18, 1979, when the snowstorm lasted just half an hour.

*Zidane: I Won't Be At Madrid For Years*

Zinedine Zidane has stated that his ties with Spanish giants Real Madrid as a former player wouldn't influence him to stay as the club's manager, longer than required.

"Zinedine Zidane isn't a player at Real Madrid anymore. That Zidane no longer exists," he said. "Now it's down to Zinedine Zidane the coach to carve out a career. I'm not protected by what I've done as a player at this club."

"I know that one day it [the coach's job] will come to an end at Real Madrid, so I make the most of it and I do everything I can to be successful."

"I know I won't stay [in the job] for 10 years."

Zidane has guided Madrid to two Champions League titles and a LaLiga crown, since taking over in Jan 2016.

*Peru Pasamayo: Lorry driver admits causing deadly coach crash*

A driver in Peru has admitted that his lorry hit the coach that plummeted down a cliff last week killing 52 people. Christian César Killahuamán, 40, told police that the lorry veered into the opposite lane at the sharp and narrow Curva del Diablo (devil's bend). He said one of its wheels touched the coach, which went off the road and landed upside down on a beach.

The accident happened in a notoriously dangerous stretch of coastal road, the Serpentín Pasamayo. The Peruvian government has since closed the road to buses and coaches. They will have to use a safer inland road, which the government plans to widen.

Mr Killahuamán was taken into police custody after the accident, last Tuesday. Peruvian prosecutors accused him of manslaughter. The driver has not been charged, but a judge has agreed to keep him in preventive detention for nine months.
