S-Africa 👮Police Raid Gupta Family Home

S-Africa 👮Police Raid Gupta Family Home
An elite South African police unit has sealed off roads around the home of businessmen friends of President Jacob Zuma in Johannesburg, a Reuters witness said. Police spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi was not immediately available for comment, but the state broadcaster quoted him as saying police were there as part of a raid. The broadcaster, SABC, added that two people were arrested in the early morning raid.
Members of the Gupta family are accused by the country's anti-corruption watchdog of using their friendship with Zuma to amass wealth. Both the Guptas and Zuma deny any wrongdoing.
Zuma was asked by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) to step down as head of state this week. Officials said that Zuma was expected to respond on Wednesday to the order from the ruling party. Zuma's nine years in office has been dogged by scandals and a stagnant economy.

Over 53,000 Ghanaian illegal migrants still in Libya – Report
A report from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), has revealed that about 53, 200 illegal Ghanaian migrants are still in Libya. This revelation comes months after some 127 Ghanaian detainees were rescued from Libya, following reports that Africans there had been subjected to inhumane treatment after giving away their life’s earnings, to make the torturous journeys through the Sahara, hoping to make it big in Europe.
The IOM’s report also ranked Ghana as one of the countries with the highest number of illegal migrants in Libya. Out of the 12 countries ranked, Ghana came 5th with a total of 31, 251 migrants in Libya, followed by Nigeria which had a total of 29,605 migrants, and Mali with 24, 105 migrants.
Niger topped the list of countries with 78,723 migrants followed by Egypt, which had a total of 78,616 migrants in Libya. "There have always been adventurous Ghanaians who would go out and try their luck in other parts of the world but the periods of economic collapse turned our country into places of wholesale emigration," the President noted.

Zuma Calls 🇿🇦S-African 🌿ANC🌿's Push for Him to Resign`Unfair
South African President Jacob Zuma said the push by his ruling party for him to resign is “unfair,” in his first television interview since the African National Congress decided to replace him as the nation’s leader.
“I found it in a sense very unfair to me that this issue has been raised all the time,” Zuma, 75, told the South African Broadcasting Corp. Wednesday. “I need to be furnished on what I have done. Unfortunately, no one has been able to provide what is it exactly that I have done.”
A statement from President Jacob Zuma appeared imminent on Wednesday as a TimesLIVE reporter witnessed an SABC crew being summoned to the president's official residence in Pretoria. The reporter said an SABC reporter had received a phone call while waiting outside the Union Buildings and was told to be on a standby for a recording with Zuma. The SABC reporter and a cameraman being escorted into the residence by a police officer, while another stood guard outside.

NBA coach Gregg Popovich says America is a 'racist country'
Gregg Popovich has never shied away from speaking his mind. So its no surprise that the legendary coach of the San Antonio Spurs, a winner of five NBA titles, had a strong response when asked why it's important for the league to celebrate Black History Month.
"I think it's pretty obvious. Our league is made up of a lot of black guys," Popovich told reporters Monday before the Spurs took on the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. "To honor that and understand it is pretty simplistic. How would you ignore that? More importantly, we live in a racist country that hasn't figured it out yet.
"It's always important to bring attention to it, even if it angers some people. The point is, you have to keep it in front of everybody's nose and understand that it still hasn't been taken care of and we still have a lot of work to do." It's not the first time Popovich has been outspoken about race or politics, especially about President Donald Trump:

Tanzanian Opposition Leader 'Murdered' After Kidnap Ordeal
Tanzanian opposition party leader Daniel John was on Wednesday found beaten to death after men bundled him into a car. According to AFP, party chairman Freeman Mbowe said the official opposition leader in Tanzanian parliament had been kidnapped. According to the party official, John's body was later delivered to a hospital, with machete wounds to the head. "Daniel John was kidnapped on Monday in the street by men in a car," Mbowe said.
Mbowe said a friend of John, who was kidnapped at the same time but survived the attack, described what happened. "He said they were beaten and tortured, and the attackers asked them why they were campaigning for Chadema's candidate." John was in charge of the Chadema party in Hananasif district, Dar es Salaam. An election campaign is ongoing in the region.
Mbowe, however, accused supporters of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party of being behind the attack. He accused the ruling party of "wanting to get everything by force."

Pro-Buhari senators walk out over election sequence reordering report

Pro-Buhari senators walk out over election sequence reordering report
About 10 members of the Senate have staged a walk-out in protest against the adoption of the report by the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on the Amendment to the Electoral Act. The protesters say despite the adoption of the report by the Senate, they would insist on its reversal. They alleged that the amendment was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, Senator Suleiman Nazif, had presented the report at the plenary on Wednesday. After the presentation, President of the Senate put the adoption of the report to voice the vote, saying there was no need for debate on it as it was from a conference committee which had harmonised the versions of the two chambers.
After the vote, the ‘ayes’ had it and Saraki ruled on it — a development that generated an uproar in the chamber. Saraki also ruled against three senators who raised points of order to protest against the adoption.

Minnie Driver is stepping down as an Oxfam ambassador

Minnie Driver is stepping down as an Oxfam ambassador
Actress Minnie Driver is stepping down as one of Oxfam's global ambassadors following revelations of sexual abuse by aid workers in Haiti. Driver is the first celebrity spokesperson to abandon the charity amid the growing scandal, which includes allegations that Oxfam staff used sex workers in Chad.
"I am nothing short of horrified by the allegations against Oxfam International. In no uncertain terms do I plan to continue my support of this organization or its leaders. And though it is unfortunate that after 20 years I am no longer able to advocate and defend through this specific framework, social and economic injustice is more globally prevalent than ever," she said in a statement Tuesday.
Former deputy chief executive Penny Lawrence resigned Monday as the scandal continued to grow. Oxfam's leaders are accused of trying to cover up the behaviour of some of its senior staff members deployed to Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Aid workers, including the Oxfam country director at the time, Roland van Hauwermeiren, were accused of turning a villa rented by the organization into a makeshift brothel, with prostitutes wearing only Oxfam T-shirts.

Denmark's Prince Henrik, who wanted to be king, dies at 83

Denmark's Prince Henrik, who wanted to be king, dies at 83
Prince Henrik of Denmark, the husband of Queen Margrethe who was famous for his public unhappiness at never being named king, has died at the age of 83. The controversial French-born prince had been diagnosed with dementia last year and was admitted to hospital in January with a lung infection. His flamboyant style was both loved and criticised by Danes.
Frustrated with his royal title, he announced in 2017 that he did not want to be buried next to his wife. The 77-year-old queen accepted her husband's decision, the Royal House said at the time, breaking a 459-year-old tradition of burying royal spouses together. She already has a specially-built sarcophagus in a cathedral west of Copenhagen where the remains of Danish royals are buried.
The prince died "peacefully in his sleep" at the Fredensborg Castle, north of Copenhagen, with Queen Margrethe and their two sons - Crown Prince Frederick and Prince Joachim - at his side. Born Henri Marie Jean André de Laborde de Monpezat on 11 June 1934, Prince Henrik married the then-crown princess Margrethe in 1967.

I ❌Won't Resign🔊: Defiant Zuma

I  Won't Resign🔊: Defiant Zuma
In an interview with SABC TV on Wednesday at his official residence in Pretoria‚ Mahlamba Ndlopfu‚ Zuma said he would only resign if the ANC top brass could inform him what he had done wrong.
"I indicated to the top six that what they have raised is not the first time. They have raised it in the NEC itself twice and nobody has ever been able to tell me what the issue is. The NEC themselves said that I must resign‚ and I find that very strange that I should do so because this is not the first time that they've said this‚" Zuma told the SABC's Mzwandile Mbeje.
"It's not a new matter‚ I need to be furnished with what is it that I have done and unfortunately nobody has been able to tell me what is it that I've done. There are processes in the ANC that need to be followed if I have been doing something wrong‚" Zuma said.
South Africa's ruling African National Congress has called a vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma and hopes to replace him as early as Thursday, as the country's embattled leader defied demands to step down. However, they have just said that they'll wait for Zuma's statement before calling for the vote.

EPISODE 6: MARRIED BUT NO SEX (THE SEMI-FINAL)

EPISODE 6: MARRIED BUT NO SEX (THE SEMI-FINAL)here we go
{The Return of Sis. Rose - Part 2}
(A Story Written By Ayodele Adeoye)

Her issue became complicated when she discovered that she was HIV positive. The cost of kidney transplant for a HIV patient was also a nightmare. All her corporate prostitution could not fetch her enough money for her kidney transplant.

She lived in fear and agony daily as her health deteriorated. 'This is the time to return home like the prodigal son to my husband, earthly father and heavenly father.' She said to herself. 'But will my husband accept me back? What would I tell my father? How do I explain my foolishness to my pastor? Would I be able to face my church members again? How do I tell my unit leader in church that I left my husband because of one day sexual denial? How do I explain to people that see me as a good Christian?' She was lost in thought.

Thoughts of suicide filled her mind. 'The pain and shame will be too heavy a cross for me to carry. What is the use of a woman with damaged kidney living with HIV? Even if the kidney transplant is successful what about the HIV virus? What a useless life! To die would have been better than this. O death where are you? If you don't come for me, I will come to you.'

At about 11am on Thursday his phone rang, 'hello! Hello! Who am I on to?' Bro. Solo asked his caller. 'It's me Angela, Rose's friend.' 'Oh, Angela how are you? Quite an age,' he greeted. 'Sir I have a good news and a bad news for you, which will you want me to share first, the bad news or the good news?' 'Please share the bad new first and let the good news follow, he said. Your wife is alive and reachable but'........ 'But what?' He interrupted her. She's sick and in need of a kidney donor to save her life. 'Please tell her I will donate my second kidney for her. At this time he had not known that she was also HIV positive.

Immediately he arrived at the hospital and saw Sis. Rose he could not but shed uncontrollable tears because of her pitiable condition. 'Why didn't you give me a chance to explain myself? Why did you leave me in this agony without knowing I did what I did to save your life? If I had slept with you that night you would have been dead by now. You didn't allow me explain the agenda of my 4 and half hours meeting with your parents and elders.

'I am sorry, I was misled. I listened to the agent of the devil in sheep's clothing. I was not wise enough to ask you. It was Bro. Sam who told me few days to our wedding that you are impotent. I didn't believe him initially but your attitude on our wedding day made me believe him.' Bro. Sam is Bro Solo's friend in the same unit in church. He was nursing the intension of wooing Sis. Rose when Bro. Solo introduced her to him as his fiancée. This secret was known after it was discovered Bro. Sam had told similar lies against two other brothers in church. He was suspended from his unit for three months after his confession.

'Let's leave all these talk for now and attend to your health. Can I see the doctor?' He was led to the doctor's office to donate his kidney to save his wife. Tests were carried out on him but his kidney could not be used. 'Please sir do something to save my wife's life, she must not die.' Bro. Solo begged the doctor. 'If she was not HIV positive the transplant would have been much easier.' The doctor said. HIV what? Bro. Solo collapsed and was rushed to the emergency ward for attention.

Restore peace in Benue or forget 2019, Bafarawa tells Buhari

*Restore peace in Benue or forget 2019, Bafarawa tells Buhari*
A former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, on Friday said that there would be no elections in Nigeria in 2019 if the Federal Government failed to restore peace to Benue State. Bafarawa made the statement during a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at the Government House in Makurdi, the state capital, to commiserate with him and the people of the state over the killings of 73 persons on January 1, 2018, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Bafarawa said, “Why would there be an election in 2019 when there is no peace? The most important thing you can bring to a society is peace. When you bring peace to them, you have brought life and can then talk about the election.”
Speaking further, Bafarawa said that while it was the duty of the Federal Government to put serious efforts to restore peace in Benue State and other parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari must involve other stakeholders, irrespective of political affiliation, to solve the problem.

*Court To Introduce Electronic Mailing System From July 2018*
The Supreme Court says from July 16, 2018, it will phase out manual forms of serving court processes in all cases before it and commence serving processes by electronic means on all matters. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, said this on Friday in Abuja at the formal presentation of the ‘newly retrofitted court and legal mail’ at the Supreme Court.
He asked all judges and lawyers to subscribe to and acquire the legal mail, pledging to have the system replicated in all courts in the nearest future. The system according to the CJN has become imperative to speed up justice delivery in the country. President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Abubakar Mahmoud, also believes that the policy is overdue and critical in moving the justice sector forward.
“The email system will undoubtedly easy communication between the court and the bar. It will reduce paperwork, speed up the court process and thereby improve the administration of justice," he said.
