*As UN Moves 👉Against Terror Funding, India🇮🇳 Points At "Serial Offender" 🇵🇰Pak*

The UN Security Council has ordered countries to step up the fight against terror financing by ensuring they have laws to make it a serious crime.

India, which has been pushing for action against countries that support terror in its diplomatic offensive against Pakistan, welcomed the move but stressed on effective implementation.

Syed Akbaruddin, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, calling India a "willing partner" in the endeavour, hit out at Pakistan in a reference to "serial offenders" who are apologists for terrorists.

"Terrorists are going to be ever more creative in finding ways to violate the rulebook. Also, the unfortunate reality is that States who are apologists for terrorists will continue to provide alibis to justify their actions and inaction too, as was done by a serial offender earlier today," Mr Akbaruddin said at the UN, adding that the world body collectively needs to do more and do it much more effectively.

"The proof of the pudding is in its eating, the utility of any council resolution will, therefore, be in its implementation...The Council can and needs to do a better job of overseeing the implementation of its resolutions relating to terrorist financing," he said.

Higuain Confirms 🇦🇷Argentina Retirement😟*

Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain has confirmed that he will be no longer available for international selection after being cast out in the wilderness following Argentina's World Cup failure.

Higuain has endured a fractious relationship with the national team in recent years, with costly mistakes in the 2014 World Cup final and 2015 Copa America decider constantly used to question his talents.

His last goal for Argentina came in October 2016, in a World Cup qualifying draw against Peru, and he failed to find the net in Russia as the Albiceleste crashed out in the last 16 to eventual winners France.

The former Real Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan striker has since been overlooked by new coach Lionel Scaloni, with the likes of Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez and Superliga pair Dario Benedetto and Matias Suarez all preferred to him in recent call-ups.

And at 31, Higuain has decided the time is right to call an end to his Albiceleste career.

*World🌎 First as Living HIV Patient Donates Kidney in the🇺🇸 US*

In a world first, US doctors have transplanted a kidney from one HIV-positive patient to another.

The operation took place at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, with both patients said to be doing well.

"This is the first time someone living with HIV has been allowed to donate a kidney, ever, in the world," Dr Dorry Segev said in a release.

It was previously thought that HIV carried too great a risk factor for kidney disease in the donor.

But new types of anti-retroviral drugs used to treat the disease are seen as safe for the kidney.

*'Zidane Never Left Madrid' 🔈: Casemiro*

Zinedine Zidane "never left" Real Madrid according to Casemiro, who lauded the Frenchman after his reappointment.

Zidane quit Madrid after guiding the European giants to a third successive Champions League title last season, however, he returned this month.

Madrid turned to Zidane following the sacking of head coach Santiago Solari amid the club's La Liga struggles and Champions League last-16 exit.

"Our coach is an icon of the club. Not only as a player but also as a coach," Madrid midfielder Casemiro told Marca .

"Zidane has shown that he is more than a coach. For the team, Zidane never left - he left his way of playing. He surely suffered with us at this time and that's why he returned. Zidane hadn't left."

Zidane won his first match back prior to the international break – a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Venezuela's opposition leader has pledged to continue his campaign to oust President Nicolas Maduro - despite being banned from holding public office for 15 years.

Financial irregularities were given as the reason for the sanctions against Juan Guaido.

The move comes as the government increases pressure on an opposition movement backed by the United States and dozens of other countries.

Following the decision, Mr Guaido said: "We're going to continue in the streets."

The power struggle between President Maduro and Mr Guaido has intensified the sense of crisis in Venezuela which suffered its worst blackouts earlier this month and then another round of power outages this week.

*INEC Issues Certificate of Return🔄 to Gov El-Rufai*

Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, has called on the people of the state to shun all forms of division and strife, but contribute to building more secured communities for enduring peace.

El-Rufai made the appeal after receiving his Certificate of Return from INEC on Thursday in Kaduna.

He stressed that the people should not allow the divisions and pains of the past to shape the state’s destiny, “as the future can be better when people work together.”

The Governor said it was time for unity of purpose, as such the residents should not wallow in narrow divisions, but collectively work for progress in recognition of the state’s common heritage as children of Adam and Eve.

“Our government is committed to uniting the people of this state, as diversity is no excuse for not working together.

“We should see and embrace diversity as a source of strength, let us remove barriers and not allow religion or ethnic identities to deter us from respecting the rights of others, acknowledging their citizenship and obeying the law,’’ he stressed.

The governor expressed gratitude to the people of Kaduna State for the verdict they delivered at the polls, adding, “we shall always prove ourselves worthy of your trust.’’

*NBA Chairman Disgraced😒 out of NEC Meeting in Abuja*

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has suspended the Chairman of its Ikorodu branch, Mr. Bayo Akinlade, over alleged insubordination.

The suspension was executed on Thursday at the ongoing NBA-NEC meeting in Abuja.

Akinlade’s suspension was sequel to a report by the NBA Vice President II, Dr. Foluke Dada, who accused Akinlade of refusing to halt the Ikorodu bye-election for the Ikorodu vice chairmanship position.

Afterwards, she moved a motion for his suspension on the basis of alleged insubordination which was overwhelmingly adopted by members.

Against that backdrop, the NBA- NEC temporarily relieved the embattled branch chairman of his position both in the IKorodu branch and the national leadership of the association.

Consequently, Akinlade will face disciplinary committee for disobeying a directive issued by the top hierarchy of the association with regards to the supplementary election of his branch’s vice chairman.

The NBA-NEC went further to void the purported election with a directive that the new vice Chairman elect should not and must not conduct herself as the vice Chairman of Ikorodu branch.

*Motta Slams😡 PSG for Poor Long-Term Planning*

Thiago Motta has slammed Paris Saint-Germain for their failure to line up replacements for him and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a timely manner.

Motta played 166 times for the French giants before retiring at the end of the 2018 season, and says the club were alerted to his plans in plenty of time to secure a replacement.

But with no alternative brought in last summer and the plight of Adrien Rabiot having left the club short on central midfield options, Motta has hit out at their lack of planning.

"It was something you had to think about and plan on beforehand,” he told RMC. “The club knew I was going to retire, it had to be organized, whether it was regarding my departure or any another player, but that comes from the organization and the ability to project ahead in the future of the club.”

The 36-year-old says the same issue also popped up in Unai Emery’s first season in charge at PSG during the 2016-17 season.

*Solskjaer Wants Carrick & Phelan to Stay🙏*

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no intention of changing his backroom staff after being appointed Manchester United manager on a permanent basis.

Solskjaer retained the services of first-team coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna following the Portuguese's dismissal and brought back Alex Ferguson's long-time assistant Mike Phelan.

The club has not announced if Carrick, McKenna and Phelan will form part of Solskjaer's permanent team, but the Norwegian is in no doubt that he wants them to continue alongside him.

"Mike is a key part of the set-up and they are talking to each other," he told a media conference.

"Of course, I've voiced my opinion and the set-up we have now, I really hope that's going to continue. The staff we have work so well together, which is key to getting results.

"I'm not looking to make any changes there and they've not knocked on my door and said they don't want to continue, so hopefully we'll have the same set."

*Slavia Prague Hit With Stadium Closure🚫 for Chelsea Clash😳*

UEFA has hit Slavia Prague with a partial stadium closure for their Europa League quarter-final clash against Chelsea next month.

The punishment comes after a series of incidents in their round-of-32 tie against Genk on February 14, including setting off fireworks, throwing objects, crowd disturbances and blocked stairways.

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has ordered the closure of a number of sections in the Sinobo Stadium for the first leg against Maurizio Sarri's side on April 11, while fining the club €32,000.

Genk were fined €20,000 after their supporters also set off fireworks and threw objects.

Chelsea have been punished following a pitch invasion in their Europa League tie with Malmo on February 21. The Blues have been handed a €5,000 fine, while their Swedish opponents have been fined €12,500 as a result of their fans setting off fireworks.

Argentina and Barca's all-time leading goalscorer to go with his five Ballons d'Or and other honours, Messi is perceived to be a shy character.

The defender has stepped away from duty with the Spanish national side and has claimed that his time away from La Roja has helped his performances at the club level .

Messi has enjoyed another fine season for La Liga champions Barca as they prepare to return to action following the international break.

*AFCON🏆: Tragedy Overshadows ZIM Qualification😟

*

The death of a supporter overshadowed Zimbabwe's qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Zimbabwe's FA said a fan was killed in a stampede outside the national stadium in Harare before their final Group G match against Congo-Brazzaville.

Despite the tragedy, the qualifier went ahead with Zimbabwe winning 2-0 to seal their place at Egypt 2019.

The Democratic Republic of Congo also qualified from the group with a 1-0 win over Liberia in Kinshasa.

Zimbabwe finished top of Group G with DR Congo second, two points adrift.

Liberia and Congo-Brazzaville - who were both in contention at the start of the day - were eliminated.

Bangladesh🇧🇩 Skyscraper Inferno Death⚰ Toll Rises to 25*

The death toll from a horrific blaze that ripped through a Bangladesh skyscraper rose on Friday to 25, including some who leapt to their deaths, as firefighters combed through the charred shell of the building.

A day after flames tore through the 22-storey FR Tower in Dhaka, trapping hundreds of office workers, police said they intended to talk to the owner of the building as part of their enquiry.

Some of those stuck inside made it to safety by sliding down cables on the side of the building, but as shocked onlookers watched, others took their chances and jumped in a bid to escape the smoke and heat.

At least six people including a Sri Lankan national died in this way, officials said.

*💫Messi's Attitude Questioned by Argentina🇦🇷 Legend*

Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has been accused of having a “different attitude” when representing Argentina, with Daniel Passarella not surprised by international struggles.

Messi has since returned to the squad, but saw his first game back end in a humbling 3-1 defeat to Venezuela.

His presence failed to inspire those around him, while he was unable to replicate the heroics which have delivered another 39 goals at club level this season.

At 31 years of age he has 129 caps to his name and 65 goals for the Albiceleste.

Former Argentina captain Passarella believes that is because Messi does not feel as comfortable or confident when representing his nation.

The 1978 World Cup winner said of an iconic countryman: "He's a great player who can give a lot to any team.

"But when he plays for Barcelona he has a different attitude.

"He's better there.

"Sometimes these things happen.

"You play well for a team and they love you, but you don't feel at ease and something doesn't fit.

"I don't know what it is, but it should be something you feel inside."

*Mourinho🔈: Zidane the Right Man for Real Madrid👑 Job*

Jose Mourinho has said that he believes Zinedine Zidane is the right man for the Real Madrid managerial position.

Zidane was re-appointed as Madrid's head coach earlier this month, just 10 months after he had resigned from the same position. The Frenchman replaced Santiago Solari, who himself had replaced Julen Lopetegui earlier in the 2018-19 campaign.

After Solari's dismissal, many tipped Mourinho to return to the Santiago Bernabeu after he had been sacked as Manchester United boss in December.

And Mourinho himself has now said that the Blancos made the right call, adding that the Frenchman is just getting started in his managerial career despite what he has already achieved.

"I do not think we can talk about a career for him yet," Mourinho said of Zidane on Canal Plus.

"But in a very short time, he did what no one had done before, that is winning three consecutive Champions Leagues".

"Now he is starting a new step in his career. He has to build a team, he has to make choices, buy players, sell them. He has to train them, give them his philosophy of play.

"I think he's probably the best person for this club."

Belgium🇧🇪 Win Marks Hazard's 100th Cap

*

Eden Hazard marked his 100th international appearance with a goal as he helped Belgium to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Cyprus in Nicosia on Sunday to extend their winning start to Euro 2020 qualifying.

Much of the build-up focused on Chelsea star Hazard due to the significance of becoming only the third Belgian to reach a century of caps and he did not disappoint, leading the way as Belgium added to Thursday's 3-1 win over Russia.

Hazard gave the visitors an early lead with a typically tidy finish for his 30th in a Belgium shirt and Michy Batshuayi doubled the advantage eight minutes later.

The visitors never looked in danger of relinquishing their lead as Roberto Martinez's men secured an early three-point cushion at the top of Group I.

🇩🇪Germany Triumph in Thrilling Netherlands🇳🇱 Clash

Nico Schulz scored a superb last-minute winner as Germany survived a Netherlands fightback in Amsterdam to earn a gripping 3-2 victory in Group C of Euro 2020 qualifying.

Germany coach Joachim Low named a side without a striker but goals from wingers Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane, symbols of their new generation, established a 2-0 half-time lead.

Memphis Depay recorded a goal and an assist as Netherlands came from behind after the interval to seemingly claim a point at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Sunday.

Germany, though, earned revenge for last year's 3-0 Nations League defeat against Ronald Koeman's side, when wide man Schulz got forward to finish brilliantly with his weaker right foot.

Thousands Attend 🇳🇿New Zealand Vigil, Rally to Fight👊 Racism, Remember Christchurch Victims*

Thousands gathered in New Zealand’s cities on Sunday to protest racism and remember the 50 Muslims killed by a gunman in Christchurch and as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced a national remembrance service to be held later this week.

About 15,000 turned out for an evening vigil in Christchurch in a park near the Al Noor mosque, where a suspected white supremacist killed more than 40 of the victims. Several more people were killed at the nearby Linwood mosque.

Many non-Muslim women wore headscarves at the vigil, some made by members of Christchurch’s Muslim community, to show their support for those of Islamic faith as they had at similar events last week.

Ardern said on Sunday that a national remembrance service would be held on March 29 to honour the victims, most of whom were migrants or refugees.

Whoever Thinks He 👊Defeated Buhari in Kaduna Is 😒Dreaming: El-Rufai*

*

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai has said that anyone who thinks he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election needs psychiatric assistance.

He said that President Buhari had consistently won Kaduna since he started contesting elections in 2003.

Governor El-Rufai was reacting to the claim made by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who said he won the 2019 presidential election with 1.6 million votes .

Speaking at a reception organised for him at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House on Saturday, he dismissed the rumour of his accident, describing peddlers of the story as sadists.

“I was never involved in any accident and no driver died. I was also not in coma,” el-Rufai said.

According to the Governor, “Let me start by thanking you all for coming to welcome me. One of the objectives is, as explained by my wife, I am still alive, or I have resurrected, I don’t know which one.

“My wife went on to say that, as my wife for 34 years, although, we have known each other for 43 years, she can confirm that this is really me, it is not a clone. Although, that will not stop the rumour in the social media, but that is that.

“So, I want to thank you all for coming here. But, I want to confirm that, no accident took place, no one was in coma, no driver died. I have already put that out in social media, but I want to repeat it for the sake of clarity.

“The second reason I am grateful for your presence and I want to thank people of Kaduna State for their votes. For their votes in support of President Muhammadu Buhari and coming out even in larger numbers to vote for me and members of the state house of assembly."

*Kano Guber: Buhari’s Aide🔊 Reveals Those Responsible for ☠Violence*

The leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been blamed for the violence which erupted in Kano State during Saturday rerun election.

The media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmaad disclosed this on his Twitter page.

The media recalls that Anthony Ogbizi Michael, a Deputy Inspector-general of Police earlier debunked social media reports of killings in Gama ward in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano during the supplementary election on Saturday.

DIG Michael blamed the social media for spreading the fake news. According to him, the story was the fabrication of the social media.

“There was no such incident or arrest of some people in the any part of the state because the security arrangement was in order”, he said at a press briefing.

“We have not witnessed any incident because voting went on in almost all the polling units smoothly.

“There has not been report of any incident of thugs taking over polling unit. If thugs occupy any polling unit definitely INEC officials will not be there to conduct election,” he said.

But, reacting, Ahmaad condemned violence and killings in the state.

According to him, leaders of both APC and PDP party caused the violence.

Ahmaad wrote: “I will never welcome violence in anywhere, Kano is the last State I would hope any kind of violence to happen, my everything is there, both of us know who and what caused such violence, leaders of our party, APC and leaders of your party, PDP. So we should all condemn it.

*Sokoto 🗳Election Result: Tambuwal Leading💫 as INEC Adjourns Collation*

The Independent National Electoral Commissiom, INEC, has adjourned the collation of results in Sokoto state.

Fatima Mukhtar, returning officer for the Sokoto state governorship election made the announcement after a brief discussion with Amina Zakari, INEC national commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

She said the adjournment was as a result of the non-arrival of results from Kebbe local government areas (LGAS) of the state.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agents and supporters at the collation center kicked against the decision of the commission, describing it as a plot to rig the election.

Incumbent governor Tambuwal is leading Aliyu Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after results from 21 LGAs had been declared.

In 20 LGAs, Tambuwal of the PDP is in the lead with 10,499 votes against that of APC which is 10,338.

Ugwuanyi Canvasses Commencement of ⛏Mining Operations in Enugu, Laments “Ghost Investors”*

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has appealed to the federal government to take effective measures to ensure the commencement of mining operations at the authorized locations in the state for proper harnessing of the inherent benefits of the mineral resources.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who made the appeal when he hosted the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari, at the Government House, Enugu, on courtesy call, stated that “the existing coal mines in Enugu State have long been abandoned”.

He lamented those he described as “Ghost investors”, whose companies, mining leases/ licenses were awarded to by the federal government for years for the exploitation of the minerals in the state but have shown little or no interest.

“We are compelled to describe them as Ghost investors because they have hardly been seen anywhere near the supposed mining areas”, the governor said.

He pointed out that “as a consequence of the inactivity of these companies, all tiers of government in the state have been losing excessive amount of revenue through the nonpayment of royalties, VAT, tenement rates, land use charges, PAYEE etc”.

Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed optimism that “the Honorable Minister of State is in a position to appreciate our concerns and expectations regarding these issues” and “will use your good office to address the said issues promptly and satisfactorily for the benefit of the nation”.

*Digne Out of France Squad👍*

Lucas Digne has withdrawn from the France squad ahead of their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland after picking up an injury.

The Everton defender acquired a thigh injury during training earlier this week and was not named in the matchday squad for the 4-1 win against Moldova in Chisinau on Friday.

Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Raphael Varane and Olivier Giroud were all on the score sheet as the world champions made a convincing start to their qualifying campaign for the European Championships in the Moldovan capital.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Goodison Park from Barcelona for the remainder of the season, and the injury isn’t thought to be serious enough to rule him out of action for the Toffees.

That should leave him available for Everton’s Premier League game against West Ham next Saturday.

*Ramos Penalty Edges Spain🇪🇸 Past Norway

Sergio Ramos scored the winner from the penalty spot as Spain opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory at home to Norway.

In their first match in Group F at Mestalla on Saturday, Luis Enrique's side were dominant but saw Josh King cancel out Rodrigo Moreno's opener.

Inigo Martinez needlessly gave away a penalty that Bournemouth striker King confidently stroked home to level the scores in the 76th minute.

But another error at the other end handed Spain the points, the otherwise impressive goalkeeper Rune Jarstein bringing down Alvaro Morata and Ramos converting with a Panenka.

Brazil🇧🇷 Held by Panama

Lucas Paqueta opened his Brazil account but it was not enough to prevent the Selecao from slumping to an alarming 1-1 draw with Panama in the absence of the injured Neymar.

Brazil were on top for much of the game and created the better chances, but without Neymar they lacked a leader in attack and failed to beat a Panama side who have lost to the likes of Ecuador and Honduras since exiting the 2018 World Cup pointless.

Wearing Brazil's number 10 jersey – usually reserved for Neymar – for the first time, Paqueta scored just past the half-hour mark, though Panama equalised in contentious fashion through captain Adolfo Machado, who appeared to be offside.

An entertaining second half saw both sides hit the crossbar, with Brazil doing so twice, but neither side found a winner as the team ranked 76 in the world held on for a memorable result in Porto.

*⚡Hazard Dismisses Reports of Real Madrid Agreement❌

*

Chelsea star Eden Hazard dismissed reports that he has already agreed a move to Real Madrid, insisting "there is still nothing" with the La Liga giants.

Hazard has been strongly linked with Madrid for months, and although he has often spoken positively about playing for Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri, he has continued to flirt with Los Blancos.

He went as far claiming playing for Madrid was a "dream" of his last year, though he was unable to follow Belgium team-mate Thibaut Courtois to the capital club last summer.

However, speaking while on international duty with Belgium, Hazard moved to quash such speculation, though he did little to ease the worries of Chelsea fans that a deal might eventually be reached.

Initially, when Hazard recognised a Madrid question was forthcoming at a news conference, he said: "No, no, I'm not here to talk about Real."

But he was pressed for an answer, replying: "There is still nothing. I'm focused on [playing against] Cyprus - that's the only thing I'm working on now."

*Youngsters Power 🇮🇹Italy Past Finland

Italy started their Euro 2020 qualification campaign in style as Nicolo Barella and Moise Kean scored their first international goals in a 2-0 victory over Finland.

Having failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and put in a lacklustre showing in the Nations League, Italy were in need of a win to kick off their Group J campaign on a positive note.

And they were ahead early on in Udine when Cagliari youngster Barella – one of several fresh faces introduced under Roberto Mancini – hammered home from the edge of the box.

Teemu Pukki squandered a gilt-edged chance to restore parity midway through the second half, and Finland were made to pay for that miss when Juventus teenager Kean slotted in to make sure of the points.

Hazard Double Sees 🇧🇪Belgium Cruise 📹*

Belgium opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win over Russiadespite a huge mistake from Thibaut Courtois.

Quarter-finalists in France four years ago and semi-finalists at the 2018 World Cup, Belgium took the lead after 14 minutes through Youri Tielemans' powerful, low finish.

However, Courtois gifted Denis Cheryshev an equaliser soon after, with his blushes spared as former Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard's penalty on the stroke of half-time restored their advantage.

Hazard doubled his tally in the 88th minute to settle the Group I contest in Belgium's favour before Aleksandr Golovin was sent off for a second yellow card.

Rashford Withdraws from England Squad❗*

Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the England squad for the games against the Czech Republic and Montenegro because of an ankle injury.

The forward sustained the issue during Manchester United's draw with Liverpool last month, and Gareth Southgate says he has now returned to Old Trafford, despite the efforts of England's medical team to get him fit.

Southgate said: "He's been with our medical team all week. We've tried to progress his training through the week, so he did some running with them.

"But it's clear to us he's not going to be ready for our matches, so we're going to send him back to the club. He's out of the two games."

Rashford's withdrawal comes as a blow to Southgate, who has used the striker in all of England's matches this season.

6⃣ Killed⚰ as Car Hits Crowd in🇨🇳 China*

A car rammed into a crowd in central China on Friday, killing six people and injuring seven others, and the driver was fatally shot by police, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The injured were taken to hospital following the early morning incident in Zaoyang City in Hubei Province, CCTV said.

China has suffered a spate of similar incidents in recent months.

Last September, 11 people were killed and dozens were injured when a car struck a crowd in a public square in the central Hunan province city of Hengdong.

Police detained the driver, a man in his 40s, and described him as a “vengeful repeat offender” who had daggers in his car and intended to “cause serious damage”.

North Korea🇰🇵, Seeking Food Aid, Links👉 Sanctions to Shortages*

North Korean factories are filling city store shelves with ever better and fancier snack foods and sugary drinks, while government officials and international aid organizations warn the nation could be on the verge of a major food crisis.

North Korea’s U.N. ambassador, Kim Song, issued an unusual appeal for “urgent” food assistance last month. He cited record-high temperatures, drought and flooding that cut the harvest this year by more than 10 per cent.

The government says it’s stepping up imports and working to increase the output of early and basic crops such as wheat and barley.

Indonesia's 🇮🇩Carrier Garuda to Call off👎 Order for ✈49 Boeing 737 Max 8 Jets*

Indonesia's national carrier Garuda will call off a multi-billion-dollar order for 49 Boeing 737 Max 8 jets after two fatal crashes involving the plane, the company said on Friday, in what is thought to be the first formal cancellation for the model.

“We have sent a letter to Boeing requesting that the order be cancelled,” said Garuda spokesman Ikhsan Rosan. “The reason is that Garuda passengers in Indonesia have lost trust and no longer have the confidence” in the plane, he said, adding that the airline was awaiting a response from Boeing.

Garuda had already received one of the 737 MAX 8 planes, he said, part of a 50-plane order worth $4.9 billion at list prices when it was announced in 2014. Garuda is also talking to Boeing about whether or not to return the plane it has received, the spokesman told.

*💥 BREAKING: 🇪🇺 EU Approves a Short Brexit 🇬🇧 Extension, But on New Terms*

European Union leaders decided that Britain’s exit date will be pushed back to May 22 if next week Prime Minister Theresa May can persuade lawmakers in Parliament to accept her plan for leaving the bloc, which they have already rejected overwhelmingly, twice.

If she cannot persuade lawmakers to accept her plan, Mrs. May will get a shorter delay in exiting the European Union — until April 12. But Britain could stay in the bloc much longer if it decides it needs more time for a bigger rethink of Brexit, as the process is known.

APC Members👊 Warn Buhari Against Giving Ajimobi Appointment*

A faction of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, known as the APC Reformers, has described the vote of confidence passed on Governor Abiola Ajimobi by some members of the party as self-deceit.

The group, made up of former political appointees and leaders on the platform of the party in Oyo State, said the vote of confidence on the governor was absurd going by lacklustre performance of the party in the state during the just concluded 2019 general elections.

In a statement signed and issued by its Secretary, Sulemon Ramoni, the APC Reformers admonished the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari not to recognize Ajimobi for any sorts of appointment in the interest of the party.

The statement reads: “After spending almost eight years in office, the people of Oyo State have passed a vote of no confidence in Ajimobi by ensuring that he lost his unit, ward, local government and the state in the last election.

“Of what benefit would the decision of his self-appointed leaders and handpicked executive be for the party, democracy and the good people of the state?

“Mr. President and the national leadership of the party, including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should not be misled by the charlatans to consider Ajimobi for a ministerial or any federal appointment which is their motive.

“Any federal appointment for him will worsen the situation of the party in the state, make reconciliation impossible and lead to more loses in future elections.

“The party lost the presidential election in Oyo state because it held on the same day with Ajimobi’s senatorial election. The State elections were lost because of his influence and interference."

*INEC Reveals🔊 What It Would Do if Court 🚷Continues to Stop Elections*

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has provided update on Supplementary election taking place in 18 states on Saturday.

Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, gave the update at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.

Okoye said that the election scheduled for Saturday, March 23, would take place in 18 states.

Okoye, however, said election would not hold in Bauchi due to litigation initiated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Muhammed Abubakar, on the state governorship election, on the collation of results in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

He explained that while the commission has complied due to its policy to obey all court orders, in defence of the rule of law, it has also taken urgent steps to vacate the order and dismiss the action.

“It should, however, be noted that the litigation and consequential order only affect the collation of results for the governorship election in Tafawa Balewa LGA.

“Consequently, the supplementary election will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, March 23, in the other 15 LGAs of Bauchi State as well as the Kirfi State Constituency Supplementary election in Kirfi LGA.”

*Family Cries😔 out as Kidnappers Refuse👎 to Free Buhari’s Prayer Warrior*

One week after he was taken hostage, Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman, a popular Quranic reciter, who regularly offered supplications for President Muhammadu Buhari at campaign rallies, is yet to be released by his abductors.

The kidnappers are insisting on N300m as ransom from the family of the revered cleric before releasing him from their hideout.

The eminent religious scholar was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Katsina State while returning from a religious function in Kebbi State on his way to Kano State last Thursday.

He was abducted alongside four other religious preachers, along Sheme-Kankara road in Katsina.

Speaking to PRNigeria, a family member in Kano, simply identified as Mallam Kabir disclosed that they have been emotionally distressed since the news of the abduction.

Kabir wondered why the kidnappers would abduct a religious teacher who is not a politician or wealthy personality, describing the incident as “very disturbing and worrisome.”

“Everybody in the family and sympathizers are apprehensive. Though we are glad, he is in good condition now but we are afraid of what the kidnappers may do to him if they don’t get any positive response from us.

“Notwithstanding, we pray he remains unharmed as we ask Allah to soften the hearts of his abductors so that they will set him free as soon as possible,” Kabir said.

Facebook Admits 👉Storing Passwords in Plain Text*

Facebook on March 21 admitted that millions of passwords were stored in plain text on its internal servers, a security slip that left them readable by the social networking platform’s employees.

“To be clear, these passwords were never visible to anyone outside of Facebook and we have found no evidence to date that anyone internally abused or improperly accessed them,” Pedro Canahuati, the company’s vice-president of engineering, security, and privacy, said in a blog post.

The blunder was uncovered during a routine security review early this year, according to Mr Canahuati, and comes after a series of controversies centred on whether Facebook properly safeguards the privacy and data of its users.

Mr Canahuati said that the Silicon Valley company expected to notify hundreds of millions of Facebook Lite users, tens of millions of other Facebook users, and tens of thousands of Instagram users whose passwords may have been vulnerable to prying eyes.

*Polaris: Court⚖ Set to Rule on 💸N466m Fraud Case*

Justice P. Mallong of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has fixed March 29, 2019 to rule on an application filed by Rabiu Aliko Lawal, seeking for the transfer of his N466, 000, 000 fraud case to a State High Court.

Lawal, who is the fourth defendant, is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, along with Bashir Abdullahi Mohammed, Oche Ogenyi, Adefila Taofile Kayode and Mmadu Mathew Onyekachi for defrauding Polaris Bank (formerly Skye Bank) of N466 million.

His counsel, M.K. Aondoakaa, SAN, on March 19, 2019 moved the application on behalf of his client, arguing that the charges were similar to the one before Justice Mohammed Tukur of a Kaduna State High Court, which according to him, has the jurisdiction to entertain the case.

“The State High Court has the jurisdiction to hear money laundering matters, and there is another charge pending at a State High Court,” he said.

Prosecuting Counsel, J. Saidi, however, opposed the application arguing that, cases are not tried on convenience of parties, but “based on the jurisdiction of the court as the law provides”.

While urging the court not to grant the application, Saidi, said, “What the defendants seek is their convenience.”

At least 83 people have drowned after a ferry overloaded with revellers celebrating the Kurdish new year and Mother’s Day capsized in the Tigris river near Mosul in Iraq.

Col Hussam Khalil, the head of the Civil Defence Corps in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh, said the incident on Thursday occurred as scores of people – mostly women and children – were celebrating Nowruz, which marks the Kurdish new year and the arrival of spring.

Many of the women and children could be seen struggling to swim against a strong current, their heads bobbing in the water opposite restaurants and an amusement park where people had been celebrating minutes earlier.

The death toll from the accident, which residents said was the worst in recent memory, was expected to rise as people waited on the banks of the Tigris for news of loved ones.

*🎓 Harvard sued by 'descendant of slave for profiting off of photos' 🖼️*

The descendent of a black American slave has sued Harvard University, claiming the college profits off images of her alleged ancestor.

The pictures, commissioned in 1850 by a professor seeking to prove that blacks were an inferior species, is believed to among the first photos of US slaves.

Tamara Lanier's lawsuit says the school is "perpetuating the systematic subversion of black property rights".

It comes as several US universities grapple with their racist histories.

Harvard spokesman Jonathan Swain told the Associated Press the university "has not yet been served, and with that is in no position to comment on this complaint".

The images, which were daguerreotypes, an early type of photograph, were made in a studio in South Carolina, and show a man known as Renty, stripped naked to the waist, along with his daughter Delia.

Ms Lanier, a retired probation officer who claims to be the great-great-great-granddaughter of Renty, asks in her lawsuit for Harvard to return the images to her family, pay unspecified damages to her and acknowledge that it was "complicit in perpetuating and justifying the institution of slavery".

*🇺🇸 Trump says it's time for US to recognize 'Israel's 🇮🇱 Sovereignty over the Golan Heights'*

President Donald Trump on Thursday overturned longstanding US policy regarding the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, announcing "it is time" for the US to "fully recognize Israel's sovereignty" over the region.

"After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel's Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability," Trump tweeted.

The announcement hands Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a significant foreign policy victory, less than three weeks before Israelis head to the polls to decide whether he should remain in power. The move comes just days before Netanyahu is set to join Trump at the White House and follows weeks during which Netanyahu has renewed his push for the US to recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israel.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria during the Six-Day War of 1967 and formally annexed the territory in 1981. But that annexation has not been recognized by the international community

*🇻🇪 Venezuela detains top aide to Guaido in move U.S. 🇺🇸 calls 'big mistake'*

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido said on Thursday intelligence agents had detained his chief of staff during a pre-dawn raid, a move by President Nicolas Maduro that the Trump administration said would “not go unanswered.”

Guaido invoked the constitution in January to assume the interim presidency after declaring Maduro’s 2018 re-election a fraud. He has been recognized by the United States and dozens of other Western nations as the country’s legitimate leader.

Maduro, who has overseen a dramatic collapse of the OPEC nation’s economy, has called Guaido a puppet of the United States and said he should “face justice,” but has not explicitly ordered his arrest.

Guaido said the raids by agents from the SEBIN intelligence service on the residences of Marrero and another opposition legislator, Sergio Vergara, showed Maduro’s “weakness” and that attempts to intimidate him would not derail the opposition campaign.

The index showed the other Nordic countries did well again this year, with Denmark, Norway and Iceland taking the next spots. The remaining top ten nations were The Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada and Austria.

India comes only at position 140. United States is on 19th place and United Kingdom, 15th.

🇮🇶 Iraq ferry sinking: at least 83 people drown in Mosul*

CR7⭐ Avoids Champions League🏆 Ban for 'Cojones' Celebration*

Cristiano Ronaldo has avoided a Champions League suspension after UEFA announced his punishment for his celebration in the aftermath of Juventus' win over Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in the second leg of Juve's last-16 clash with the Rojiblancos, and celebrated by mocking Diego Simeone's own celebration from the first leg when the Atleti boss intended to illustrate the 'cojones' his team had shown in their own 2-0 victory.

UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Ronaldo on Monday for the gesture, and have decided a €20,000 is punishment enough for the Portugalinternational.

That is in line with Simeone's own punishment, with the Argentine fined the same amount by the European governing body ahead of the clash in Turin.

Ronaldo, therefore, will be free to face Ajax in the quarter-finals of the competition as he continues his quest to win a fourth straight Champions League title and a sixth overall.

Real Madrid👑 Want Anderson If Hazard Bid Fails🙆*

Real Madrid are planning a move for West Ham’s Felipe Anderson, should the Spanish side fail to land their number one transfer target Eden Hazard.

Reportedly, Chelsea have already rejected an offer from Real of around £60m for Hazard earlier this month, making it clear they will only entertain offers closer to double that figure.

Hazard is out of contract next June and has so far turned down offers of a new contract.

However, with a ban on transfer business looming at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea may choose to ignore Real's offers and keep their prized asset for another season.

And it's this policy which has prompted Real's returning head coach Zinedine Zidane to target Anderson in a deal likely to be worth around £65m.

Pogba🔈: Mbappe & Rashford the Future of Football🌟*

Paul Pogba is revelling in the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford, whom he believes are the "future of football".

Both Pogba and Mbappe were instrumental in France's triumphant World Cup campaign in Russia last year, and the pair are set to feature as Les Bleus kick off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign against Moldova on Friday.

Rashford and Pogba were two players who appeared to struggle the most under Jose Mourinho's Manchester United management at the start of this season, but with interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm the duo have thrived, revitalising what had been a stuttering campaign.

And Pogba believes there are obvious similarities between his club and country team-mates.

"It helps me because they're both fast," he told Eurosport. "They call for the ball a lot, which helps me when I have the ball.

"They call for it, I try to make the best pass and they finish - so it benefits me.

"I like playing with young, talented players like them. They are the future of football and my partnership with them is good."

Chelsea🔵 Begin Tribunal with Conte in Compensation Battle⚖*

Chelsea began a Premier League managers' tribunal on Thursday, with hopes of resolving Antonio Conte's compensation claim for a £9 million severance package relating to his contract with the Stamford Bridge side.

The former Blues boss was sacked last summer despite having one year remaining on his contract. As a result, the Italian is asking to be paid in full the wages he would have earned during that final season in London.

Chelsea's case will dispute Conte's version of events, citing a breach of contract due to some of the former Italy national team manager's behaviour in the final year of his time as the club's head coach.

Diego Costa left Chelsea for £57m in January 2018 after the striker's relationship with Conte broke down, with the latter informing the former via text message that he was no longer wanted by the team.

The club will point to that gesture as an example of the trainer's lack of professionalism.

A three-person panel has been appointed in an undisclosed location and a verdict is expected soon, although there is no time frame set for the trio of individuals to come to a decision.

Rashford Fitness Concerns😟 England and Man Utd♦*

Marcus Rashford is a major injury doubt for England’s Euro 2020 qualification opener with the Czech Republic after being forced to sit out training.

The Manchester United forward was unable to join in with the rest of Gareth Southgate’s squad on Thursday and he was the only member of a 22-man party not to take part in the Three Lions’ latest warm-up session.

Rashford is now expected to sit out a meeting with the Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday.

An ankle problem picked up against Liverpool on February 24 is still causing the Red Devils star problems.

He was unable to come off after suffering that knock due to the fitness issues endured by others as United had no choice but to keep him on the field and risked making the injury worse.

Alaba Interested in Premier League Move🤔*

Bayern Munich star David Alaba has opened the door to a potential move to the Premier League, insisting that he can "imagine" himself playing in England or Spain.

The versatile Austria international has played 335 games in all competitions for the Bavarians during his career, carving out a reputation as one of Europe's top left-backs over the years.

And despite reaffirming his commitment to the Bayern cause, Alaba says that he could well consider a change in the future, with England's top clubs, as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid, potential options.

"I can imagine trying something else but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern," he told Bild.

"Every year there a new challenges and new objectives and the pressure will always be there. I'm happy in Munich but of course I can imagine seeing something else [in the future]."

When asked which leagues would interest the full-back, he replied: "Spain, England. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real or Barcelona. Also the big clubs [in England]."

*Rumour👂: Barcelona Consider €80m Coutinho Sale😳*

Barcelona are ready to listen to offers for Philippe Coutinho but a move to Manchester United does not seem likely, as per reports.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with the Brazilian, while a return to Liverpool has also been reported in some quarters, but a switch to the Premier League is not currently an option for Coutinho.

The midfielder is put off the idea of heading back after his family struggled to fully adapt to life in England, with Paris Saint-Germain appearing the most plausible option.

The Ligue 1 club are the only European giant outside of England's top-flight that have the financial means to afford the player's wages, worth a reported €2.3 million a month before tax, while the opportunity to team up with international colleagues such as Neymar, Thiago Silva and Marquinhos is likely to appeal.

*Pogba Fuels🔥 Man Utd Exit Rumours After Zidane Remark😱*

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has fueled speculation that he could depart Old Trafford by declaring that a move to Real Madrid would be a "dream."

Pogba was frequently linked with a move away from Man Utd in the first half of the season, as the midfielder feuded with Jose Mourinho.

However, after Mourinho's sacking in December, Pogba has been rejuvenated under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But Pogba's future may yet lie away from Old Trafford, with the 26-year-old declaring his admiration for Real Madrid at a press conference with the French national team on Wednesday.

"Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world," Pogba said.

"There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it's a dream for anybody who likes football.

Buhari Again👎 Declines Assent to 5⃣ Bills*

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, declined assent to five more bills that were passed by the National Assembly and forwarded to him to sign into law.

In separate letters addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and read at Plenary yesterday, President Buhari listed the latest rejected Bills as Nigerian Film Corporation Bill, Immigration (Amendment) Bill, Climate Change Bill, Chattered Institute of Pension Practitioners Bill as well as Digital Rights and Freedom Bill.

With yesterday’s development, the number of passed bills in the present 8th Senate and refused to be signed into law by the President, now puts the number at 26.

In the letter yesterday, President Buhari explained that it became imperative to reject the Immigration Bill because it would have adverse effect on Nigeria’s position on the Ease of Doing Business ranking, just as he said that the Chattered Institute of Pension Practitioners Bill amounted to duplication of functions with an existing institute.

Other bills earlier rejected by Buhari since 2015 include: the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB), Stamp Duties (Amendment) Bill, Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, Industrial Development (Income Tax Relief) (Amendment) Bill, National Research and Innovation Council (Est.) Bill, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism (Est.) Bill and National Agricultural Seeds Council Bill.

Germany🇩🇪 Stutter to Draw Against Serbia

Leon Goretzka spared Germany's blushes as Joachim Low's men salvaged a 1-1 friendly draw with Serbia on Wednesday, their first game of a so-called new era without Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller.

Low shocked German football earlier this month when announcing the World Cup-winning trio were no longer in his plans, and while Goretzka’s goal avoided defeat in Wolfsburg, the defensive performance suggested Hummels and Boateng could still be of use.

Germany's new-look back four held firm for just 12 minutes, as Barcelona-linked Luka Jovic nodded in from close range, with Serbia looking the more threatening for the majority of the first half.

The hosts coped better with Serbia's ability on the break in the final 30 minutes and were deserving of their equaliser courtesy of Goretzka, though they were unable to find a winner despite the late dismissal of Milan Pavkov.
