*Spurs Want to Sign Hull City's Bowen🔁*

Tottenham are trying to sign Jarrod Bowen in the January transfer window, as per reports.

Spurs are eager to sign a homegrown player this winter, and the 22-year-old Hull City forward would provide a strong option up top to provide support for Harry Kane.

Bowen has scored 26 goals in the Championship over the last season-and-a-half, with 11 of those goals coming in 26 matches this campaign.

Spurs have space for a homegrown player in their Premier League squad after the club submitted a team of fewer than 25 in the summer.

Tottenham currently have three forwards on the roster that are struggling to contribute to the first team as Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou haven't truly provided much for the third-placed club.

It also seems likely that any move for Bowen would have to be preceeded by the sale of one of the aforementioned underperformers, which may not be easy.

*Toothless Chelsea🔵 Held by Southampton

Chelsea produced a toothless display as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by struggling Southampton and lost Willian to injury in the process.

Maurizio Sarri reinstated Alvaro Morata to the team with Olivier Giroud ruled out, yet the service to the Spaniard was poor as Saints dug deep to hold on for a well-earned point.

A tame first half passed with few flashpoints, though Chelsea did see Willian forced off on the same day the club announced the signing of Christian Pulisic, who will arrive at the end of the season.

The home side had a Morata goal controversially ruled out for offside late in the second half as they failed to win at home for a second successive outing, following on from a shock 1-0 reverse against Leicester City on December 22.

*Lukaku & Rashford👊 Keep Solskjaer's Perfect Start💥 Going

Romelu Lukaku made a swift impact from the bench for a second consecutive match as Manchester United beat Newcastle United 2-0 at St James' Park.

Phil Jones, into the Manchester United defence for the suspended Eric Bailly, made a last-ditch tackle on Salomon Rondon to atone for his own absent-minded play in the 15th minute.

Newcastle winger Christian Atsu spurned a trio of half-chances – something that seemed dangerously wasteful when Dubravka had to be quickly off his line to thwart Rashford and Juan Mata.

But one of the hosts' most valuable performers then let them down and Lukaku was on hand to pounce on Dubravka's error.

The Belgium international was on the pitch for two minutes before rounding out Sunday's 4-1 win over Bournemouth and had only been on for 38 seconds when Martin Dubravka spilled Marcus Rashford's free-kick in his direction.

Rashford continued a purple patch in front of goal 10 minutes from time, meaning a fourth win in as many outings at the start of his reign for caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – a feat only previously achieved by club great Matt Busby.

*Gov. Okorocha🗣 Speaks on ‘Announcing🔄 His Defection’ from APC to AA*

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has denied reports making the rounds that he has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to Action Alliance, AA.

The report had it that the Governor made his decision to dump the ruling APC to join his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu public during the New Year Crossover Service in Government House.

But in a press statement signed by Sam Onwuemeodo, his Chief Press Secretary, on Wednesday, Okorocha refuted the viral report.

The statement said, “An amusing tale with the referenced caption has been trending on the social media for days now.

“And those behind the balderdash said that the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has announced his defection from APC to AA to join his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu during the New Year Crossover Service in Government House.

“Now our response to the unfounded story: Imo people do not support stolen tickets and that is why all those who stole the guber tickets of their parties for the 2019 election cannot fly.

“They have become stranded and looking for who to blame for their woes or misfortune. They know this fact. Imo people do not support anything stolen. That was the reason they dealt with 419ers in 1997.

“It was out of frustration that those concerned came up with the story of Governor Okorocha leaving APC for AA, which is not true.

“With the ill-gotten ticket they have also seen that the sound of bitter-kola in the mouth does not reflect its real taste."

*New Minimum💸 Wage: Labour Announces🔊 Date for Nationwide🚷 Strike*

Following the inability of the Federal Government to urgently transmit the bill on the new national minimum wage to the National Assembly, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has set Jan. 8 as date for the commencement of an indefinite nationwide strike.

NAN reports that NLC president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said the strike would be inevitable if nothing happened before the set date.

He appealed to workers across the nation to support the action to succeed in the interest of their social and economic prosperity.

Wabba called on the Federal Government to urgently transmit the bill on the new national minimum wage to the National Assembly for a speedy passage.

He said: “It is unfortunate that the Federal Government is yet to transmit to the National Assembly an executive bill for the enactment of N30,000 as the new national minimum wage.

“Government’s dilly-dallying on the issue has strained Government-Labour relations with a potential for a major national strike which could just be days away.

“I want to appeal to the government to do the needful by urgently transmitting the bill on the new national minimum wage to the National Assembly.

“We also would like to use this same opportunity to urge workers to fully mobilise for a prolonged national strike and enforce their right.”
