Mohamed Salah is to return to Liverpool after he suffered a muscle injury while playing for Egypt on Friday night.
The 26-year-old was forced off in the closing stages of Egypt's 4-1 victory over Swaziland in their African Nations Cup qualifier in Cairo, having scored directly from a corner earlier in the game.
Salah was due to travel to Swaziland with his international team-mates for the return fixture but the Pharaohs have now confirmed he will instead head back to Merseyside.
A statement from the Egyptian Football Association read: "Javier Aguirre [Egypt manager] has decided to let Mohamed Salah return to his club and not participate in the Swaziland match on Tuesday to give him more rest.
"During the previous match against Swaziland, Salah complained of stress in the musculoskeletal muscle.
"He was examined medically and radiation was performed on the area of complaint after the game."
