The most important thing that you can do is to _not treat them differently_ from others. HIV positive individuals can live full and healthy lives these days, if they take their medication (ART) regularly. You must encourage your partner to start ART. For this, it could be helpful if you offered to accompany them to the doctor. Once they have started ART, you must encourage them to continue with it. ART can have some side effects, some of which can be unpleasant. However, ART is very effective and it should be taken regularly. You should offer emotional support as well. You must encourage them to engage in safe sex practices and use a condom each time they have sex. This will help prevent transmission of the virus.
