MEXICAN POLICE AND CIVILIANS CLASH, 11 KILLED VIOLENCE

*Mexican Police & Civilians πŸ’₯Clash, 11 Killed Violence

Violent clashes involving gunmen, a community police force and state police killed 11 people in the troubled southern state of Guerrero on Sunday, while a separate series of shootouts the previous night left seven dead in the northern Mexico beach resort of San Jose del Cabo. Eight people were initially killed when gunmen ambushed community police before dawn in the town of La Concepcion, near the resort city of Acapulco. Two of the dead were from the community force.

Later in the morning, state police arrived to disarm the local agents, and another shootout erupted in which three people were killed. Alvarez said he did not know how they died, but local media said they were community police. State Attorney General Xavier Olea Pelaez said 30 members of the community police were detained on suspicion of crimes including homicide and illegal weapons and drug possession.

*Barcelona record signing Coutinho out for three weeks due to injury*

Barcelona have confirmed that Philippe Coutinho has a thigh injury and will not be able to make his debut for the club for around three weeks.

Just hours after completing his €160 million move - a record signing for the Camp Nou side - from Liverpool, the 25-year-old suffered the frustrating news, which was made public as the playmaker was presented by his new club on Monday.

Coutinho underwent a medical during the morning, which revealed a right thigh problem that the club expect to keep him sidelined for three weeks, having missed his final match for Liverpool, an FA Cup derby against Everton, because of injury.

Given the details that Barcelona have released, Coutinho will miss Thursday's Copa del Rey last-16 second-leg meeting against Celta Vigo, plus both legs of the quarter-final should they progress. Additionally, trips to Real Sociedad and Real Betis in La Liga will come too soon.

He would have to be considered doubtful for the home match against Alaves late in the month, meaning his debut could come in the derby fixture against Espanyol on February 4.

Actor Kit Harington was caught on camera being booted from a Manhattan bar late Friday after belligerently arguing with other customers and causing a scene.

The video, shot by an eagle-eyed “Game of Thrones” fan at Gramercy Park’s Barfly, shows the 31-year-old hovering over a pool table, grabbing cues and slurring as he tries to argue with a group of people presumably attempting to play a game.

The London-born thespian, who appears to have trouble finding his coat, was restrained by a bevy of fellow bar patrons several times before being escorted from the establishment

*John Young, moon astronaut and first to fly shuttle, dies aged 87*

The astronaut John Young, who walked on the moon and commanded the first space shuttle flight, has died. He was 87. In a statement, the former president George HW Bush said Young was “a fearless patriot whose courage and commitment to duty helped our nation push back the horizon of discovery at a critical time”. Nasa said Young died at home in Houston on Friday night following complications from pneumonia.

The space agency said Young was the only agency astronaut to go into space as part of the Gemini, Apollo and space shuttle programmes and the first to fly into space six times. He was the ninth man to walk on the moon. Young was in Nasa’s second astronaut class, chosen in 1962, along with the likes of Neil Armstrong, Pete Conrad and James Lovell.

“Today, Nasa and the world have lost a pioneer,” the Nasa administrator, Robert Lightfoot, said in a statement. “Astronaut John Young’s storied career spanned three generations of spaceflight. “John was one of that group of early space pioneers whose bravery and commitment sparked our nation’s first great achievements in space.”

Israeli archaeologists have uncovered a rare prehistoric site near Tel Aviv described as a "paradise" for hunter-gatherers living 500,000 years ago. The site, next to a busy motorway at Jaljulia, has revealed hundreds of flint axes and other artefacts. Experts say the area had a stream, vegetation and an abundance of animals - all perfect for early humans.

Ran Barkai, head of archaeology at Tel Aviv University, said the site had been "amazingly preserved". "For people it was like a paradise, so they came here again and again," he said. "The water brought flint nodules from the hills, which were used to make tools on the spot, and it attracted animals, which were hunted and butchered here. They had everything that prehistoric people needed."

The ancient landscape was found between Jaljulia and the Route 6 motorway, about 5m (16ft) below the surface, and the finds indicate it was used by the ancestors of modern humans - homo erectus.
