*๐Ÿ”ŠPeter Obi: Profile of PDP Vice Presidential Candidate*

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has selected ex-Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi as his running mate.

Insiders say Atiku made wide consultations before the decision.

Obi had declared the emergence of Atiku as a good sign for the country ahead of the 2019 general election.

Lamenting that Nigeria had derailed off the paths of development, Obi said that going by “Atiku’s wealth of experience, track record of wealth-creation, knack for identifying excellence among excellent people, detribalised nature and perfect understanding of the ills of the country”, the former VP had all it takes to restore the nation’s glory.

“Having personally followed him in the past six months, listened and interacted with him on a number of issues negatively affecting our society, I observe in him a person who has the burning desire to leave a footprint in the sands of time”, he added.

Below is Obi’s profile

*Dutch Great Van Basten⭐ to Leave FIFA Role*

Marco van Basten has announced he will step down from his role as FIFA's head of technical development at the end of October in a decision made by mutual consent.

The Netherlands great said his decision to leave the position after two years was driven in part by a desire to spend more time with his family.

Van Basten described the introduction of VAR at the 2018 World Cup in Russia as a beautiful milestone as he reflected on his work with member states to promote technology, coaching and improvements in refereeing.

During his time at FIFA, Van Basten was involved in the creation of the International Football Association Board's 'Play Fair' document, which aimed to improve fairness, attractiveness, respect and player behaviour.

*Sancho Makes Modern England History with 1⃣st Cap*

Jadon Sancho continues to impress and the 18-year-old made a bit of history for England on Friday.

The Borussia Dortmund youngster made his full debut for England in a 0-0 Nations League draw with Croatia, coming on in the 78th minute in front of an empty Stadion HNK Rijeka.

At just 18 years and 201 days old, Sancho became the youngest player to make his debut in a competitive match for England in over 60 years, and the second youngest ever.

Duncan Edwards is the only England player to make his debut in a competitive match at a younger age, playing against Scotland in 1955 at 18 years and 183 days old in what was known as the British Home Championship, an annual competition between the United Kingdom's four national sides that was abolished in 1984.

Sancho also became the first outfield player to play for England while plying his trade outside of the UK since 2009, when the LA Galaxy's David Beckham played against Belarus.

*Liverpool Sweating as Salah Limps Out of Egypt Clash*

Mohamed Salah limped off with an injury late in Egypt's 4-1 win over Swaziland on Friday, after he earlier scored a record-breaking goal for the Pharaohs.

The Liverpool star scored directly from a corner kick just before half-time to make it 4-0, but later had to be removed in second-half stoppage time with an injury.

Salah was injured in the 88th minute of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, and had to be treated on the sideline before he returned to the match.

But the 26-year-old was unable to shake off the injury and was forced to withdraw from the game in stoppage time, with Egypt playing the rest of the match with 10 men having already used all three substitutions.

After the game, Egypt assistant Hany Ramzy indicated his optimism that the problem wouldn't turn out to be serious.

"[The] initial diagnosis of the medical staff of [the] Egypt national team is that Salah suffered a muscular injury," Ramzy told BeIN Sports. "He will be examined to determine the details, but in my opinion it is not serious."
