Russia Fires💥 on and Seizes Ukrainian Ships 🛳Near Annexed Crimea*

*

Russia seized three Ukrainian naval ships off the coast of Russia-annexed Crimea on Sunday after opening fire on them and wounding several sailors, a move that risks igniting a dangerous new crisis between the two countries.

Russia’s FSB security service said early on Monday its border patrol boats had seized the Ukrainian naval vessels in the Black Sea and used weapons to force them to stop, Russian news agencies reported.

The FSB said it had been forced to act because the ships - two small Ukrainian armoured artillery vessels and a tugboat - had illegally entered its territorial waters, attempted illegal actions, and ignored warnings to stop while manoeuvring dangerously.

*Buhari Cancels❌ Trip to Edo*

President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Edo on Tuesday may have been cancelled, a NAN report said Monday morning.

He was billed to declare open the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference, initially scheduled to hold in Benin City.

The cancellation might not be unconnected with the killing of Nigerian soldiers at Metele, a remote village bordering Nigeria and Chad.

Arrangements had been completed by Edo State Government to host President Buhari on Nov. 27 where he was billed to inaugurate the Edo-Azura Power Plant and grace the COAS Conference.

The event has been shifted Maiduguri where Buhari would use the opportunity of the COAS conference to address the Nigerian soldiers at the battlefields to further boost their morale.

President Buhari’s aide on New Media, Alhaji Bashir Ahmad, confirmed this development on his Twitter handle on Sunday evening.

He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare the COAS Annual Conference on Nov. 28, 2018 at the Conference Hall CGH in Maiduguri, Borno state.

“The conference was earlier scheduled to take place from 26 -28 November 2018 in Benin, Edo state.”

Watch 👀 Mars landing 🚀 live, today starting at 11 a.m. Pacific time*

*

NASA will stream live coverage of the attempt today to land the InSight spacecraft on Mars, starting at 11 a.m. Pacific time. The touchdown is planned for noon PST.

It is the U.S. space agency’s first attempt to land on Mars in six years.

Earth’s success rate at Mars is 40 percent, counting every attempted flyby, orbital flight and landing by the U.S., Russia and other countries dating back to 1960. But the U.S. has pulled off seven successful Mars landings in the past three decades. With only one failed touchdown, it’s an enviable record. No other country has managed to operate a spacecraft on the planet.

If the landing is successful, it is hoped that the 800-pound InSight will then place on the Martian surface a seismometer and a “mechanical mole” that will burrow 16 feet into the soil to collect data.

*Sevilla 🔝 La Liga Ahead of Barca👏*

Sevilla went to the top of La Liga with a narrow win over mid-table Real Valladolid, a header by Portuguese forward Andre Silva earning the points.

The on-loan AC Milan player's eighth league goal of the season proved enough to replace Barcelona at the summit.

Valladolid's Turkish forward Enes Unal had two goals disallowed for offside and, in stoppage time, forced a fine save from Tomas Vaclik.

Sevilla are one point clear of Barcelona after 13 games.

They have not been crowned champions of Spain since 1946 but are now unbeaten in four league games.

Sevilla's next league game is away to Alaves, who are three points behind in fourth spot in the table, on 2 December.

U.S. authorities shut the country’s busiest border crossing and fired tear gas into Mexico on Sunday to repel Central American migrants approaching the border after U.S. President Donald Trump vowed the asylum-seekers would not easily enter the country.

Traffic in both directions was suspended for several hours at the San Ysidro port of entry between San Diego and Tijuana, U.S. officials said, disrupting trade at the most heavily trafficked land border in the Western Hemisphere.

Russia said Monday it had acted strictly within international law during a confrontation this weekend between Russian and Ukrainian navy ships in the Kerch Strait.

"The Russian side acted strictly within both domestic and international law," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a daily press briefing.

Peskov said Moscow has opened a criminal case "in connection to the violation of Russia's borders" but gave no details on the fate of the Ukrainian sailors held by Moscow.

The confrontation at sea has raised fears of a wider military escalation and the UN Security Council was to hold an emergency session later Monday to consider a response.

*Mourinho 🔈: Lindelof Punished Himself🙆*

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at the Sweden national team after confirming that Victor Lindelof played through the pain barrier against Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old played twice during the recent international break, including going the full 90 minutes against Russia having come off at half-time against Turkey through illness.

Lindelof was deemed fit enough to start for the visit of Palace, a dull goalless draw with has increased the pressure on Mourinho's position at Old Trafford

In the closing stages of the stalemate, the centre-back was in clear pain but with United having made all three of their substitutions, Lindelof played on instead of reducing his team to 10 men.

Mourinho told MUTV: “I believe [he is injured]. I have to believe so.

“I always say this is the period of the injuries. If they are not injured with the national teams, they come to the clubs and are injured.

“He played against Russia three days ago or two days ago, but of course, we need him when he plays.

“He was probably our best player. He was a brave lad, but he probably punished himself.

"I don’t know how long he will be out, but he is a fantastic example.”

*Reports📰: Dembele Asks for Barca Exit⁉*

Ousmane Dembele has asked Barcelona to allow him to leave the club in the January transfer window, as per reports, and his exit could help facilitate Neymar's shock return.

The 21-year-old has struggled to adapt to life at Barca following his €105 million (£93m/$120m) move from Dortmund in 2017 and has now requested the board sanction a sale when the transfer window reopens in the winter.

As reported earlier, the Liga champions were already looking at offloading Dembele and will be open to offers for the forward in January.

Ernesto Valverde's side are planning to include Dembele in any potential deal for PSG forward Neymar, with the Catalan giants keen to bring back the Brazilian, who wants to push through a return to Camp Nou.

Indeed, preliminary discussions over an offer in the New Year for the 26-year-old that would include Dembele and a substantial cash fee have already taken place.

Premier League clubs are likely to also be interested in the latest developments regarding Dembele's future, with press reports having linked Liverpool with a move for the World Cup winner.

Up to 145 pilot whales have died in a mass stranding on a remote part of a small New Zealand island, authorities said Monday.

The stranding was discovered by a hiker late Saturday on Stewart Island, 30 kilometres (19 miles) off the southern coast of the South Island.

Half of the whales were already dead and due to the condition of the remaining whales and the remote, difficult to access location, the decision was made to euthanise the remainder.

*💥Boko Haram: Muslim Group Blows😤 Hot Over Killing⚰ of Soldiers, Blames NASS*

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has expressed consternation, dismay and shock over the killing of Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram terrorists.

The Media reported that Boko Haram terrorists on Monday overran the 157 Task Force Battalion at Metele Village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.

Over seventy Nigerian soldiers allegedly lost their lives during the encounter.

The high death toll has already caught the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari who summoned top brass in the Nigerian military command to review the situation..

MURIC’s reaction was contained in a press statement signed and made available to DAILY POST on Monday, by the group’s director and founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

It read: “This is audacious, benumbing and preposterous. We are nonplussed. This is a national tragedy of no little proportion. We join millions of other patriotic Nigerians to mourn these fallen heroes. Our hearts go to those gallant soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice for their country in active service. We ask Nigerians to pray for them and their families. We also implore our religious leaders to organize special prayers for total victory over the insurgents.

“But we must not spend all the time on our mats and knees praying. We must, in the spirit of ora et labora, work more and pray less because it is our handiwork that Allah will crown with glory. Allah himself confirmed this position when He said, ‘Tell them to work and Allah will see (i.e. He will reward you for) your work…’ (Glorious Qur’an 9:105).

“The question that arises here is how much work did we do? How well did we prepare for the insurgents? There are allegations that neglect and sabotage caused the Metele fiasco. Soldiers in that axis reportedly complained of poor weaponry but nothing was done about it."

Maldives Top Court🚫 Cancels Jail Sentence👊 Of Former President👔 Nasheed*

*

The Maldives Supreme Court on Monday canceled former president Mohamed Nasheed's 13-year jail sentence after a review of the controversial terrorism conviction.

The top court said the island nation's first democratically elected leader was wrongfully charged and the criminal court should not have proceeded to trial.

Under former leader Abdulla Yameen's administration, which jailed a number of opposition leaders on various charges, the Supreme Court previously upheld the conviction in 2016.

Nasheed had been found guilty of ordering the military to arrest and detain the Maldives' criminal court's chief judge in January 2012.

Eden Hazard has ruled out a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but has admitted he could leave Chelsea this summer.

The Chelsea star has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since before the World Cup, with Real Madrid often reported as a possibility.

*Mugabe Now👀 Confined to a Wheelchair♿*

Former President Robert Mugabe has been receiving medical treatment in Singapore and is now no longer able to walk.

Mugabe, who ruled Zimbabwe for nearly four decades since independence from Britain in 1980, will be 95 next February.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who desposed Mugabe with the help of the military, made the announcement, but did not reveal the nature of Mugabe's treatment.

Mnangagwa said Mugabe had been expected to return from Singapore in late October, but his health required he stay an extra month, and he is now expected back in Zimbabwe at the end of November.

"He is now old. Of course, he now is unable to walk but whatever he asks for we will provide," Mnangagwa told supporters in Zvimba, Mugabe's home area about 100km west of capital Harare.

"We are looking after him," Mnangagwa added, labelling Mugabe as, "the founding father of free Zimbabwe".

In the past, officials have said he was being treated for cataracts, denying frequent media reports that he had prostate cancer.

Towards the end of his reign, Mugabe was criticised for spending increasing amounts of time and money abroad receiving treatment in Malaysia and Singapore, while ordinary Zimbabweans had to make do with the country's own under-resourced hospitals.

*Mick McCarthy Appointed 🇮🇪Ireland Boss; Keane to Coach👏*

Mick McCarthy has been confirmed as Republic of Ireland manager with Robbie Keane forming part of his coaching team.

The Football Association of Ireland [FAI] turned to McCarthy after Martin O'Neill stepped down last week following a run of one win in 11 games.

A former Ireland captain who won 57 caps and played at Euro 1988 and the 1990 World Cup, McCarthy succeeded Jack Charlton as Irish manager in 1996.

After missing out on qualification for two major tournaments following play-off defeats to Belgium and Turkey, McCarthy led Ireland to the 2002 World Cup.

He has signed a two-year contract and will be succeeded by Stephen Kenny after the Euro 2020 finals. Kenny has left his post with Dundalk and take charge of the Ireland U21s.

*4⃣ Finns🇫🇮 Among 5⃣ Killed in Private Plane💥 Crash in Zimbabwe

*

Four Finnish citizens are believed to have been among five people who died in a plane crash in Zimbabwe on Friday, their companies and Finland’s foreign ministry said.

The plane crashed near Masvingo, the ministry said.

Finnish pulp and paper maker UPM said Heikki Vappula, 51, executive vice president of UPM Biorefining, appeared on the passenger list of the crashed private plane.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to Heikki who was a visionary and inspiring executive... His insights and energy will be greatly missed,” UPM Chief Executive Jussi Pesonen said in a statement.

Lassila & Tikanoja CEO Pekka Ojanpaa, 52, was also among the victims, the environmental and support services firm said.

*Barcelona Rocked by Double Injury Blow🙆*

Barcelona have confirmed injuries sustained by both Rafinha and Sergi Roberto, the former rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, while the latter will be out for three to four weeks with a leg injury.

Roberto, who started Saturday's crunch clash with Atletico Madrid – a match which ended 1-1 – dropped to the ground moments before half time, clutching his leg, and was replaced for the second half.

The Blaugrana have since confirmed that the 26-year-old has ruptured his semimembranosus, one of the three muscles that make up the hamstring.

With the versatile Spain international facing up to a month on the sidelines, he could miss as many as seven matches, including Champions League fixtures against PSV and Tottenham.

Coincidentally, Rafinha was the man who replaced Roberto at the Wanda Metropolitano after the break. And despite finishing the match, the Spanish champions will be without the Brazilian for a fair bit longer, with surgery required to repair the ACL.

*Nairobi Conference👥 to Unlock Opportunities👍 in Blue Economy*

Kenya will be spending $8 million on the International Blue Economy Conference, how will the country benefit?

The $8 million is the estimated budget of the conference. This is not a government conference, but an international event convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who invited other countries and the United Nations to join.

So far, 134 countries have responded and we have 5,340 delegates who have registered.

The government is mobilising funds and is not getting money from the Treasury because it is not wise to always put the burden of holding conferences on the taxpayers, even though the beneficiary will be taxpayers.

The government will only spend on two delegates per country from poor countries who need assistance.

*River-Boca Copa Libertadores Final🚫 Suspended Again😳*

The Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors has been suspended for a second day following the bus attack that marred Saturday's original date for the game to take place.

Boca Juniors had requested for CONMEBOL to suspend the game, which is the second leg of the final, after the team bus was attacked by River fans on Saturday when the match was initially supposed to take place.

The Xeneizes travelled across Buenos Aires with the final all-square at 2-2 after the opening game at La Bombonera, but their bus was showered with projectiles on the way to River's El Monumental stadium, with some smashing windows of the vehicle.

After discussions that led to several delays, the game was eventually suspended for 24 hours until 17:00 local time (20:00 GMT) on Sunday.

But, with Boca having urged authorities to not let the game go ahead at all this weekend, that request has now been granted and the game will not go ahead on Sunday either.

Although Boca did not demand specific punishments for River, article 18 of the CONMEBOL statutes covers a wide range of sanctions, including; fines, cancellation of a match, obligation to play a game behind closed doors, withdrawal of a title or prize.

*Staff Arrested⛓ in Kenya LGBT Centre for ‘Recruiting’🤔 Gay Youth

*

Two members of staff at an LGBT+ organisation in Mombasa, Kenya, were arrested after police received a “tip off” about gay-related activities in the area.

Police raided the non-governmental organisation today and arrested two members of staff after receiving the tip off, according to Nairobi News.

According to the local news outlet, the police accused the group of “recruiting youth in the area to join the gay community.”

The staff members were held for more than four hours where they were interrogated by police, however they were let go earlier today.

Nairobi News quote Makupa Police Station as saying: “We received complaints from members of the public about the activities of the organisation.

“We raided and nabbed some of its staff for questioning,” the source continued.

Hazard⚡ Blasts Chelsea's Lacklustre Display😑*

*

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has criticised his team-mates after the Blues suffered their first loss of the season against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday.

First half goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane put Spurs in the box seat, before Son Heung-min added a third to take the game away from Maurizio Sarri's side.

Frenchman Olivier Giroud pulled one back for the visitors but it was a mere consolation on a disappointing evening for the away side.

Despite Tottenham’s domination, Chelsea felt they could have had two penalties in the first half, with Hazard on the end of some risky challenges.

The Belgian believes the first incident, where he went to ground after a challenge from Juan Foyth, was a definitely penalty, but says his side can have no excuses after “a bad game”.

“I think the first one is a penalty,’ Hazard told Chelsea’s official website.

“It is the decision of the referee – sometimes right, sometimes not – but I can’t blame him, it is part of the game and I don’t want to find an excuse, I think we played a bad game.

“It was not just about the penalty, I think the whole team did badly. They have top players and are a good team, which we saw last year at Stamford Bridge. We were a bit down, but we need to get back on the pitch, train hard and win games again.”

*Ghana to Spend💰 $4.5 Million on All Africa🎶 Music Awards*

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku has revealed that Ghana will spend a total of $4.5 million on the organization of three editions of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

The country is currently hosting the 2018 event in Accra and will continue to host the 2019 and 2020 editions as well.

Earlier, when the question about how much Ghana will spend on hosting the events was put to the minister she described it as “lame”.

However, when asked again by Andy Dosty on Hitz FM today, the Minister finally disclosed the figure.

“It is a three year program and the budget is 4.5 million dollars” she said.

In spite of the huge cost Ghana will incur, the Minister insists that Ghanaians should focus on the advantages of hosting the rest of Africa rather than criticizing government over cost.

“We tend to overemphasize on the cost of doing music, arts and culture rather than the benefits…You have to invest in it to get the returns,” she stressed.

*Football💥Leaks: Anti-Doping Report on Ramos' Malaga Shower Made Public😱*

In the report, released by Der Spiegel, and conducted by the State Anti-Doping Agency, it states that 'the player did not have permission to shower and ignored the warnings. His obstruction of control was a very serious infraction.'

Ramos responded to the allegations with a social media statement in which he defended himself.

💥Boko Haram: Act Like a General, 🙅‍♂️Not a Pastor – Okupe Tells Buhari*

*

Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari over the recent killing of 44 soldiers in the Northeast.

Some soldiers fighting insurgents in the Northeast were some days ago killed by Boko Haram in Matele, Borno state.

Buhari, reacting on Saturday to the sad incident expressed deep shock over the killing.

He assured that immediate measures were being taken to ensure that the loopholes, which led to the fatalities, were blocked once and for all.

However, Okupe reacting, urged President Buhari to stop prophesying over the killings by Boko Haram and take charge.

The former presidential Spokesman called on Buhari to hit back at the terrorist group like a ‘General’ not a ‘Pastor’

Okupe in his Twitter page said: “A Commander-in-Chief does nor prophesy in WAR. He takes charge and repositions troops for reappraisal attacks. PMB hit Boko Haram like a General, not a Pastor.”

*Igbo Community🤝 Resolves 28-Year-Old Leadership👀 Crisis in Cross River*

The Igbo community in Calabar, Cross River State capital, have resolved their leadership tussle that had lingered for 28 years.

The President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ugoji Nwabueze disclosed this on Saturday at the Ndi Igbo 28th anniversary in Calabar.

He said, “In the past 28 years, we have not been able to gather under the State platform in whatever name to celebrate our day.

“This was largely due to crisis generated by some communities over the control of the leadership of the apex body in the state. Those behind the crisis were enemies of peace, progress of Ndi Igbo.

“Today’s celebration is to put our host communities on notice that Igbos in the state are united and that from now on we shall collectively be speaking with one voice, intent and purpose,” he said.

Nwabueze explained that the crisis had its consequential effects. “We were no longer united to the extent that we distanced ourselves from our host communities and even government.

“With this celebration today, all that has come to be history. As a prelude to the ceremony, we have visited the leadership of our host communities in Calabar and its environs and assured them of our utmost respect for traditional institutions and rule of law.”

European🇪🇺 Union Leaders👔 Seal Brexit 🤝Deal, Ask Britons to Back Theresa May*

*

European Union leaders formally agreed on a Brexit deal at a Brussels summit on Sunday, urging Britons to back Prime Minister Theresa May's package, which faces furious opposition in the British parliament.

The 27 leaders took barely half an hour to rubber-stamp a 600-page treaty setting terms for Britain's withdrawal from the European Union on March 29 and a 26-page declaration outlining a future free trading relationship.

"This is the deal," European Union chief executive Jean-Claude Juncker told reporters on his way into the meeting, saying he believed May would get it through parliament and ruling out big new concessions.

"Now it is time for everybody to take responsibility -- everybody," said Michel Barnier, the Frenchman who has ground out the withdrawal treaty over the past 18 months. Juncker called it "a sad day", saying Brexit was a "tragedy" and tough on both sides.

"I believe that the British government will succeed in securing the backing of the British parliament," Juncker said, declining to comment on what might happen if May fails. "I would vote in favour of this deal because this is the best deal possible for Britain," he added.

France 🇫🇷Fuel Unrest: 'Shame' on Violent✊ Protesters, Says Macron*

*

French President Emmanuel Macron has lashed out at demonstrators who clashed with police in Paris during the latest protests sparked by rising fuel prices. "Shame on those who attacked" officers, he said. "There is no place for violence in the [French] Republic." There was chaos on the Champs-Elysées on Saturday as police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse protesters.

The demonstrations had been billed by the "yellow vest" movement as "act two" in a campaign that began a week ago. Named after their distinctive high-visibility attire, the protests initially focused on a rise in a fuel duty on diesel. They later grew to reflect anger at rising living costs, particularly in rural areas, and other grievances against President Macron's policies.

More than 100,000 people took part in about 1,600 protests across France on Saturday, the interior ministry said. Most passed off peacefully - except in the capital, where 8,000 demonstrators gathered.

*👔Thierry Henry Earns 1⃣st Win as Monaco Manager*

Thierry Henry finally has a win on his managerial record.

A Radamel Falcao goal 54 minutes in was all Monaco needed to claim a 1-0 win over Caen in Ligue 1 play on Saturday, handing Henry his first victory as manager of the French side in seven matches at the helm.

The Arsenal, Barcelona and France legend replaced the sacked Leonardo Jardim six weeks ago with the club third from bottom, following his time as an assistant for Belgium.

But the fortunes of the French side changed little with Henry calling the shots.

The club lost four and drew two of his first six matches in charge before finally picking up a win on Saturday.

His time has seen the club knocked out of the Champions League and, even after Saturday's win, they sit two points back of safety in Ligue 1.

CR7⭐ Fires Juve 9⃣ Points Clear

*

Cristiano Ronaldo made it six goals in as many Serie A games on Saturday as Juventus beat SPAL 2-0 to move nine points clear at the top of the table.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner beat SPAL goalkeeper Alfred Gomis from six yards in the 28th minute at the Allianz Stadium – his ninth league strike for the Bianconeri.

Douglas Costa – one of six changes for Juve – impressed throughout for the league leaders, creating numerous openings that the hosts, including Ronaldo, were unable to convert.

Mario Mandzukic finally doubled Juve's advantage on the hour, the Croatia international sealing all three points with a simple tap-in after Costa's shot had stung the palms of Gomis.

*Brilliant Spurs Hammer Chelsea

Tottenham left Maurizio Sarri's unbeaten record as Chelsea boss in tatters as they stormed to a 3-1 derby win at Wembley.

Dele Alli's sixth goal in this fixture got Spurs off to a flyer and Harry Kane made it 2-0 in the 16th minute.

Son Heung-min was a menace to a ramshackle Chelsea defence throughout and brought up his 50th goal in Tottenham colours with a sublime 54th-minute solo effort.

Olivier Giroud's late header from Cesar Azpilicueta's cross could not stop Mauricio Pochettino's men leapfrogging Chelsea to go third in the Premier League, five points shy of leaders Manchester City on 30 points.

Copa Libertadores Final Suspended🚫 After Boca Bus Attack😱*

*

The Copa Libertadores final second leg was suspended in farcical circumstances after Boca Juniors' team bus was left almost destroyed and two players sent to hospital following an ambush by River Plate fans.

The clash between River and Boca at the Monumental looked to go ahead as late as two and a half hours after the original kick-off time, before CONMEBOL finally opted to reschedule amid widespread confusion and conflicting reports.

Tensions have been high around the Argentine capital Buenos Aires for weeks since it was confirmed that the two arch-rivals would meet in a two-legged decider.

Many, then, were relieved when the opening clash, a 2-2 draw in Boca's Bombonera, passed off relatively without incident, despite a 24-hour delay due to rain.

When Boca's squad made their way to the Monumental for the return match on Saturday, however, all hell broke loose.

Carlos Tevez and his team-mates were greeted by a hail of bottles and other missiles from River fans in the streets surrounding the stadium which shattered the glass of Boca's coach.

Police efforts to disperse the troublemakers only made matters worse, as tear gas fired by authorities made its way through the broken windows and seriously affected the players on the bus.

Boca eventually arrived at the Monumental in their half-destroyed vehicle, where several squad members showed signs of injury or sickness related to the serious incidents outside.

*Not Enough Heart👎 & Desire for Man Utd 🔈: Mou*

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho suggested that his players lacked the heart to take three points from the weekend's Premier League fixture after being held 0-0 by Crystal Palace.

The Reds' uneven league form continued unabated on Saturday as they failed to break down the determined Eagles at Old Trafford.

United dominated possession but could not find a way past Wayne Hennessey, with the home crowd reacting with sporadic jeers at the final whistle.

And Mourinho questioned his men's will to win as he tried to explain this latest slip.

"A bad result, no chance to see it as one point we win because there are two points we lost. Crystal Palace deserve the credit. They came for this and they got it and fought for it and gave everything for it," the manager told reporters.

"We used the sides very well and made them move to one sides and then go to the other but there was not enough intensity, not enough desire.

"It is a game we really need to win. If we play with the same philosophy against Young Boys then we won’t win and have to go to Valencia and win there. There are games that are special and not just one more: this was a special game, the first of eight Premier League games until the end of December and a game we need to win and it was not enough from the heart.

"You must play with brain and also with heart and I think there was not enough heart."

*Taiwan🇹🇼 Voters 🗳Reject 🙅‍♂Same-Sex Marriage in Referendum*

Taiwan has rejected same-sex marriages, in a blow to the island's reputation as a rights trailblazer in Asia. The results in referendums come despite a high court ruling in March 2017 in favour of such unions. The court also gave parliament two years to amend laws or pass new ones. It is unclear how Saturday's voting will affect legislation.

Meanwhile, President Tsai Ing-wen quit as leader of Taiwan's governing party after defeats in local elections. Her pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lost more than half of the 13 cities and counties it won in 2014. Taiwan's relations with China have deteriorated since Ms Tsai came to power in 2016. Beijing has refused to deal with her because she does not recognise an agreement reached between the two sides in 1992 that both sides are part of one China.

*Dembele⚡ Earns Barca a Draw 🆚 Atletico

Ousmane Dembele came off the bench to snatch Barcelona a 1-1 draw away to Atletico Madrid in Saturday's top-of-the-table clash in LaLiga.

Diego Costa's first top-flight goal this season looked set to give Diego Simeone his maiden league victory against Barcelona in seven years as Atletico's head coach, which would have taken them to the summit.

But it was not to be as Dembele found space in the box in the last minute to beat Jan Oblak with a low shot that evaded a desperate effort by Lucas Hernandez to clear the ball off the line.

A draw maintains the status quo at the top of LaLiga with Barca a point clear of Atletico having successfully avoided suffering back-to-back league losses for the first time under Ernesto Valverde.

*Top Mali Jihadist Amadou Koufa ⚰Killed in 🇫🇷French Raid - Army*

One of Mali's top jihadist leaders has been killed in a raid by French forces, the Malian army says. It says Amadou Koufa died in Friday's operation in the central Mopti region. France earlier suggested that Koufa might be among about 30 Islamists "put out of action" in the raid.

The radical preacher is described as a senior member of the Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) group that has carried out frequent attacks in Mali and neighbouring Burkina Faso.

"I confirm that Amadou Koufa was killed during the operation," Malian army spokesman Col Diarran Kone told Reuters news agency on Saturday. He declined to provide any further details. The French army had earlier said that its operation targeted a base controlled by Koufa.

JNIM has so far made no public comments on the latest reports. Large swathes of northern Mali were seized by jihadists in 2012 until they were pushed back in a French-led military operation the following year. But parts of the country are still out of the government's control.

*Nigeria🇳🇬 Metele Attack: President👔 Buhari Speaks 🔊of Deep Shock*

Nigeria's leader has vowed to close the "loopholes" which allowed militants to reportedly kill dozens of soldiers at a base in north-eastern Borno state. President Muhammadu Buhari addressed last Sunday's attack publicly after the army acknowledged it had taken place. It had been reported that at least 40 soldiers died when an Islamist militant group targeted the base in Metele.

But the army refused to confirm the reports until Friday when they put out a release disputing the death toll. The army did not provide a different figure. President Buhari said he was deeply shocked by the news in a statement released on Saturday.

The president - who faces an election in three months time - added no responsible leader "would rest on his oars... to allow terrorists to endanger the lives of its military personnel and other citizens". As a result, he planned to meet with military and intelligence chiefs "in the coming days" to plan their "next steps".

Nigerian Army 👊Threatens Legal Action Over Videos of Boko Haram💥 Attacks*

*

The Nigerian Army on Saturday, threatened legal action against individuals or groups behind the “fake videos of purported Boko Haram attacks.”

It also refused to divulge details of the terrorists’ attack on the 157 Battalion in Metele.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the Army said that it “continued to observe with great dismay the myriads of photos and video clips being recklessly distributed on various social media platforms by different calibre of persons” noting that such undermined national security.

The release partly reads, “It is indeed shocking to see how these well doctored propaganda materials from enemies of the state have succeeded in creating fear and unrest in the polity. These doctored materials are obviously serving the purposes intended by the terrorists to mis-inform the populace, spread panic, hatred, religious intolerance and above all to undermine national security.

“The army wants to categorically state that the videos and images making rounds as the purported attack on Metele base are false and do not in any way portray the reality of the situation on the ground.

“Unfortunately, many do not know that indiscretional posts and comments from a citizen that is supposed to be solidly behind its military in these trying times could have a way of dampening the morale of the troops."

Zimbabwe's former President Mugabe, 94, is unable to walk because of ill health, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said. The former president also made several medical trips there towards the end of his time in power.

Mr Mnangagwa became head of state a year ago after Mr Mugabe was ousted following the intervention of the army. Up to that point, Mr Mugabe had been in power for 37 years, first as prime minister, then as president. He led the movement for Zimbabwean independence from white minority rule.

Spain🇪🇸 to Back Brexit🤝 Deal After UK 🇬🇧Agrees to Gibraltar Terms*

*

The European Union removed the last major obstacle to sealing an agreement on Brexit after Spain said it had reached a deal Saturday with Britain over Gibraltar on the eve of an EU summit.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced Saturday that Madrid would support the Brexit divorce deal after the U.K. and the EU agreed to give Spain a say in the future of the disputed British territory of Gibraltar, which lies at the southern tip of the Mediterranean nation.

Spain wants the future of the tiny territory, which was ceded to Britain in 1713 but is still claimed by Spain, to be a bilateral issue between Madrid and London, not between Britain and the EU.

In a letter obtained, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk assured Sanchez that Spain’s “prior agreement” would be needed on matters concerning Gibraltar. “Europe and the United Kingdom have accepted the conditions imposed by Spain,” Sanchez said. “Therefore, as a consequence of this, Spain will lift its veto and tomorrow will vote in favour of Brexit.”

*Donald Trump 'Ill-Informed' About Land Issue 👀, Says South African 🇿🇦 President*

In an exclusive interview with CNN, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa criticized Donald Trump's views on South Africa's land debate and blamed -- in part -- "fringe groups" lobbying in the US.

"They are finding people who get some resonance with what they are saying, and these people are ill-informed about what is happening here. Just as President Trump was ill-informed about the messages that they are beaming out," said Ramaphosa.

Ramaphosa's comments come as CNN released an investigation proving ties between US and South African far-right groups and a growing belief in the myth of a white genocide of South African farmers. CNN's investigation shows that those ideas have gained resonance far beyond ultra-right groups and have spread into the mainstream.

"Those people overseas that are taken in by this message of whites in South Africa being under threat, they are looking at South Africa through the lens of black versus white. And South Africa has long moved away from that," said Ramaphosa.

"In the main, most of them are racists. And they are not very positively disposed toward black people. Their voice, a seemingly prominent voice, is because they are talking on race issues and saying there is a racial war. There is no racial war in South Africa. White South Africans are working with us to resolve this issue," he said.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that tracks white supremacists, says that Trump helped legitimize the conspiracy theories.

*Robert Mugabe in Singapore for 🏥Medical Treatment,Unable to Walk*

Former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe has been receiving medical treatment in Singapore for the last two months and is no longer able to walk, though he should return home next week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on Saturday.

Mugabe, 94, who ruled the southern African nation for nearly four decades since independence from Britain in 1980, was forced to resign in November 2017 after an army coup.

Mnangagwa told ruling ZANU-PF supporters at a rally in Murombedzi, Mugabe’s village some 100 km (60 miles) west of the capital Harare, his predecessor had been due to return on Oct. 15 but that his poor health had delayed the journey.

He did not say what treatment Mugabe had been undergoing.

“We have just received a message that he is better now and will return on Nov. 30. He can no longer walk but we will continue taking care of him,” Mnangagwa said, referring to Mugabe by his totem name Gushungo.

During his later years in power, Mugabe made several medical trips to Singapore.

Officials often said he was being treated for a cataract, denying frequent reports by private local media that he had prostate cancer.

Mnangagwa, who won a disputed July 30 presidential vote, repeated the army’s previous justification for last year’s coup, saying his former mentor Mugabe had been surrounded by criminals.

When the army rolled its tanks into Harare, military leaders said they were targeting “criminals around the president.” A bitter Mugabe said later, however, that the army’s action had forced him to resign.

*💥Boko Haram: Army Finally🗣 Speaks on Killing of Soldiers*

The Nigerian Army on Friday confirmed the reported killing of some Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram sect along the Nigeria-Chad border on Sunday.

It was gathered that no fewer than 44 soldiers were killed during an attack, which occurred at Metele, a remote village bordering Nigeria and Chad.

However, reacting, the Army in a statement on its Official Twitter handle on Friday described the attach as “an unfortunate event”,

It also decried the misinformation being circulated about the attack, noting that the situation has been brought under control.

The statement reads, “The attention of the NA has been drawn to several social media, print, electronic and online publications about the recent attack on 157 Task Force Battalion at Metele.

“Whilst it is true that there was an attack on the location on 18 November 2018, it has however, become necessary to correct several misinformation being circulated with regards to this unfortunate event.

“It is important for the public to note that the NA has laid down procedures for reporting incidents that involve its personnel who fall casualty in action. Out of respect for the families of our gallant troops, the NOKs (Next of Kins) are first notified before any form of public information so as to avoid exacerbating the grief family members would bear, were they to discover such from unofficial sources.

“Furthermore, it suffices to observe that several social media, print and online publications have been brandishing false casualty figures as well as circulating various footages of old and inaccurate BHT propaganda videos and alluding same to be the attack on 157 Task Force Battalion."

*DA Takes👉 Ramaphosa's👔 Presidential Campaign Donation to the Public Protector*

The DA says it's laid a complaint with the Public Protector to investigate the relationship between President Cyril Ramaphosa and controversial company Bosasa. The company now called African Global Operations has distanced itself from the infamous R500,000 donated to Ramaphosa's ANC presidential campaign. The DA says it wants the office of the public protector to probe if the president deliberately misled Parliament when he said he knew nothing of the donation.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane called the payment a bribe in return for future tenders and wants the public protector to probe the matter. Maimane led a march to the office of the company yesterday against what they call a corrupt relationship between ANC leaders and the company. The company has since distanced itself from the infamous donation, putting the blame on CEO Gavin Watson. The official opposition party’s Graham Charters says this is a lie.

Mnangagwa🗣 Speaks On 2019💰 National Budget*

*

Speaking on his official Twitter account, President Emmerson Mnangagwa congratulated Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube on presenting a responsible and disciplined budget.

Mnangagwa said the budget’s core message of austerity for prosperity is central to Government’s restructuring strategy.

Said Mnangagwa:

"I wish to congratulate @MthuliNcube on a historic, responsible and disciplined budget, which both cuts costs and contains crucial confidence building measures to stimulate economic growth. The core message – ‘austerity for prosperity’ – is a central component of our strategy to restructure, reform and rebuild, and I am confident that in years to come, this will be seen as a pivotal moment in Zimbabwe’s economic recovery."

*City Hall Demolishes💥 Risky Kayole Building After Public Uproar🗣*

Nairobi county government on Friday demolished the faulty building on Kayole Spine Rd.

Caroline Wanjiru, owner of the condemned seven-storey building, was arrested minutes before the demolition began.

She was arrested a multi-agency team led by City Hall officials after an uproar by Kenyans.

Social media was awash with complaints of how the building was approved and whether those behind were concerned about safety of would-be occupants.

*Rift MPs Reject❌ Uhuru’s Offer of Sh2,300 for a Bag of Maize🌾*

A section of Rift Valley leaders have rejected the government's Sh2,300 offer for a bag maize, vowing that farmers will not accept anything less than Sh3,600 for a 90kg bag.

Early this month, two governors from the country's maize basket counties Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu) and Patrick Khaemba said the Sh2,300 offer, which was initially flouted by the Strategic Grain Reserve Board, was unacceptable to the farmers.

"Farmers are producing maize at an average cost of Sh1,800 per bag and if one considers the costs of transport and other issues then they cannot make profit at Sh2,300 per bag," Mandago said.

"Farmers are producing maize at the cost of averagely Sh1,800 per bag and if one considers the costs of transport and other issues then they cannot make profits at Sh 2,300 per bag," said Mandago.

"We did a study this year we were finding that the cost was ranging between Sh1,800 and Sh1,900 to produce a bag of maize but then this is just cost of production, it does not include the margins and access to market.

🗳Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib Become 🙋First Muslim Women in 🇺🇸US Congress*

*

A onetime Somali refugee and the daughter of Palestinian immigrants shared the historic distinction Tuesday of becoming the first two Muslim women elected to the US Congress.

Both women -- Ilhan Omar, 37, and Rashida Tlaib, 42 -- are Democrats from the Midwest and outspoken advocates of minority communities that have found themselves in the sights of US President Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policies.

Omar won a House seat in a strongly Democratic district in Minneapolis, Minnesota, succeeding Keith Ellison who was himself the first Muslim ever elected to Congress.

Tlaib's victory was no suprise. She ran unopposed in a congressional district that stretches from Detroit to Dearborn, Michigan.

Their stories trace a similar trail-blazing rise through local politics.

*Diane Rwigara🙅 Defiant as Treason⚖ Trial Looms*

Rwanda is "like a prison" with Paul Kagame its imperious warden, according to Diane Rwigara, a young politician who sought to challenge for the presidency and whose treason trial begins Wednesday.

The 37-year-old, who was released on bail in October, struck a defiant tone speaking to AFP ahead of her trial for treason, insurrection and forgery.

"I just came out of a prison but my country still feels like a prison. And the prison guard is none other than the ruling party... dictating to us how to live, what to do and what to say," she said in an interview at her home in the capital Kigali.

"I was not surprised by my arrest. I was kind of expecting it because of what I was doing in the country: if you dare criticise the government that is what happens, you get arrested, imprisoned or lose your life. I expected some form of retaliation."

Victoire Ingabire, another woman who sought to run for the presidency in 2010, was blocked from competing, arrested, tried and spent six years in jail before her release in September.

*79 Abducted⛓ Pupils Freed🙏 in Troubled Cameroon Region:🔊 Minister*

Seventy-nine school pupils abducted by gunmen this week in a troubled English-speaking region of Cameroon have been freed, the country's communications minister told AFP Wednesday (Nov 7).

"All 79 students have been released," said Issa Bakary Tchiroma, without giving details of the circumstances under which they were set free.

The kidnappings on Monday were the first such mass abductions seen in Cameroon and coincide with an upsurge of political tensions in the majority French-speaking country.

The students were enrolled at the Presbyterian Secondary School in Bamenda, capital of Cameroon's Northwest Region - one of two areas where surging anglophone separatist militancy has been met with a brutal crackdown by authorities.

Their release comes a day after Cameroon's 85-year-old President Paul Biya was sworn in for a seventh term in office.

Biya has promised to pursue policies of decentralisation to address "frustrations and aspirations" in English-speaking regions.

A six-minute video seen by AFP on Monday, but which could not be confirmed independently, showed 11 boys apparently aged about 15 giving their identity and name of the school in English, and adding that they were abducted by the "Amba Boys" - a name for anglophone separatists.

*Boko Haram🤐 Kidnaps Another Set of 👀Girls*

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped 15 girls overnight in a village near Toumour, southeastern Niger, the local mayor said on Saturday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Boukar Mani Orthe, the mayor of the town in Niger’s Diffa region near the border with Nigeria, said about 50 unidentified armed men seized the girls in a village about nine kilometres from the town centre.

On Thursday suspected Boko Haram fighters killed eight people working at French drilling company, Foraco’s water well site in Toumour.

Boko Haram has been waging an insurrection since 2009 aimed at establishing an Islamic state in northeast Nigeria. It has launched repeated attacks into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

The violence has killed thousands of civilians and forced millions to flee their homes in the large Lake Chad basin region.

Kidnapping of schoolgirls has been a Boko Haram horror mark, since its fighters in 2014 kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, in Nigeria.

*💥Boko Haram: Ohanaeze Queries🔎 FG on Billions Spent to 🚫Curb Terrorism*

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has asked the Federal government to tell Nigerians what has become of the one billion dollars it appropriated for the war against Boko Haram.

The group noted that the rate of massacre of Nigerian troops at the war front was becoming alarming.

Ohanaeze made the demand, in a statement issued by its deputy National publicity secretary, Mazi Chuks Ibegbu, and forwarded to DAILY POST on Saturday.

The statement said, “These soldiers complain of poor weapons and lack of proper welfare,so where are the billions the federal government claim to be spending in the war against corruption, which of course, politicians and religious and fundamentalists created.”

The Igbo body warned that, “These dying soldiers are children, brothers, sisters cousins and friends of people. They must not be allowed to be dying like flies in the North East.

“And my worry is that we are busy politicking while these young men and women are sacrificial lambs of a war they hardly know the cause. And top officers make a lot money out of this war, while some politicians and military chiefs would even want the war not to end to continue fattening their deeply leaking pockets.”

I Am the CEO of APC – Oshiomhole Fires at Party’s Legal Adviser, Ogala*

*

Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says every member of the party’s national working committee (NWC) must take directive from him.

The National Legal Adviser of the party, Babatunde Ogala, had accused Oshiomhole of usurping his office.

In an internal memo addressed to the chairman, Ogala said the National Chairman was fond of sidelining the party’s legal department.

He alleged that Oshiomhole had refused to consult him over issues his office should handle.

But in an interview with Daily Trust, Oshiomhole said the constitution of the party provides that he is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the APC.

He said: “We have a constitution. It’s very clear that nobody is an island to himself or herself. Yes, we have 21 elected members of the NWC. We constitute an organ. It is not 21 NWCs, it’s one, and the duties and responsibilities of the chairman are well-stated. Among others, it provides that the chairman is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the party. He is also the chief accounting officer.

“The word CEO has the same meaning everywhere in the world. The fact that you are the head of a department or a division, or a unit, does not isolate you from taking a directive from the CEO. So, if there is anyone, including a legal adviser, who thinks that he is running a different system that is not accountable to the internal structures and power and control within the party, the challenge may be his."

ASUU STRIKE CALLED OFF

*ASUU STRIKE CALLED OFF!*

congratulations to all university students, just about an hour ago the ASUU chairman broke the announcement, which is
considered a big one for all university students. After calling
off the strike, the media went ahead to ask if the federal
government has met the demands of ASUU.

Out of dismay, the ASUU chairman shook his head and said he was disappointed with the media more than he his with the FG, saying the media formed a deaf ear to the strike, that an average Nigerian does not know that universities are on strike. He condemned the media's lack of publicity. After expressing his anger he went ahead to say that the Government is doing nothing concerning our demands, even
after a closed door meeting with the education minister where the President said he has so manyi ssues to deal with now than to start spending more money on universities.

After the meeting however, the chairman of the newly formed party APC called the chairman of ASUU to a meeting with ACN, CPC, and the AFGAN governor who promised ASUU that they would give ear to ASUU's demand and will do more. one of which every student will be given a bursary award which is to cover 50% of every student fee, that is, for spending 5 years in the universities. 2 years fee would be paid by FG, and every student who graduates with first class would stand a chance to do their masters in canada, while
those with lower credit and pass would continue their study in South Africa and Ghana respectively. Also, salary of VC's would be increased by 90%.

After this meeting, the ASUU chairman called off the strike asking all students to resume at their various schools on the first week of June 2015, that about 2 years time, of course after voting in ACP.

Its so sad that we have to sit down to read all this, Hopefully, The Asuu strike should be called of in____________________ weeks time.
