*4⃣ Die, 36 Rescued from Collapsed⏬ Building in Port Harcourt*

Thirty-six people have so far been rescued from the rubble of the collapsed 7-storeyed building in GRA, Port Harcourt.

However, four bodies which were pulled from the building unconscious have been pronounced dead.

Majority of those rescued were rushed into a waiting ambulance and then to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH and the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital.

Media reports that the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Red Cross, officials from the Rivers state Special Duties were leading the rescue operations with construction giant, Julius Berger providing logistic support.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Government has said it is poised to ensuring that those trapped in the collapsed seven-floor building in GRA are rescued.

Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Harry-Banigo said this when he led other members of the state Executive Council, to the scene of the collapsed building.

Banigo said efforts by the Rivers state government, NEMA and other agencies led to the rescue of 36 victims as at last night.

“We were here yesterday with all relevant members of the State Executive Council; we had all the Emergency Medical Services on ground in collaboration with UPTH, NEMA and others; they have all been on ground working all night and I’m here to encourage them to keep on working because there are people there that must be rescued."
