My Friend has TB and we spend alot of time together..is it likely that I can also get TB?️

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection. It can affect almost any organ of the body including lungs, stomach, intestine, bone marrow, lymph nodes, skin, and kidneys. Pulmonary tuberculosis, which affects the lungs, is the commonest form of tuberculosis and spreads by droplet infection. This means that the bacteria are carried in the droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes. When these droplets are inhaled by another person, they could also be infected. Infection does not mean that you will show symptoms. Development of the disease is governed by several factors including the strength of your immunity. So, while it is possible that you may get infected, you may not develop the disease. Treatment for tuberculosis is so effective that most patients become non-infective within about 2 weeks of starting it. You must convince your friend to start Anti Tubercular Therapy (ATT) if not already started.
